Is the 204 ruger fading away

I think the reason you don't see many .204 is because they are SO popular. Basically anyone looking for a varminting rifle goes towards .204 and .22-250. It took me for EVER to find a place that had some in stock near where I live.

I've actually started to build an AR15 upper in 204 Ruger. Ordered my upper receiver and barrel from Brownells. Should be a lot of fun and little recoil, which is what I need if I want to continue to shoot with this dammed pinched nerve in my neck.

Too bad I may never have the choice of taking it in the field to hunt here in Canuckistan.

I had a bunch of pics posted on PHC but they are gone now. It actually took 13 months from when I ordered it to when I finally got it home but it was worth the wait. I guess I can take some more pics on the weekend during daylight hours and post them here. I'm hoping to get out and call a few coyotes in this weekend and if that happens I will post for sure.

Cant see the 204 going anywhere anytime soon. From what I've seen if someone doesn't like it they haven't tried it :) or maybe they used the wrong bullets for what they were shooting. Its a beauty varmint snuffer

I just bought a MGM s/s 204 Ruger T/C Contender barrel off the EE should be here on Monday I'm just hoping it is as accurate as my 17 Rem & 223 T/C barrels.

I figure it will have a place in my predator rifle/cartridge line-up that also include 22-250, 6mm-284 and 6.8SPC.

I don't have time to reload right now due to my new to me barrel having a 1 - 12" twist rate I bought 100 32gr Hornady Factory rounds.

From reading up on the 204 I understand that a 1 - 12" twist is best with/for 32gr - 39gr bullets.

I load 40gr V-Max in my 223 and 52gr - 60gr in my 22-250 so have no desire to load a heavier bullet in the 204 preferring the possible 4200fps muzzle velocity these are supposed to provide.

My 23" 204 T/C Contender barrel arrived late yesterday afternoon.

Mounted an older Vari X 11 AO 4-12X40mm LR reticle scope and mounted the barrel to one of my frames.

Made it to the gun club this morning factory Hornady 32gr V-Max ammo averaged 4108fps 200 yard accuracy was appr 1 1/2" for 5 shots = I can live with that.

I have an H&R Handi Rifle in .204, but I really haven't used it much. I think I might have fired about 20 rounds out of it since buying it and now it just sits around collecting dust. It is sort of on my "purge list" of firearms at the moment.

The 22-250 may never leave home again.....
