Is the .308 dead???

I will stay with my 7 mil rem mag. It is just my perfered cal. Oh and I do not care what anyone else wants to use. FILL YOUR BOOTS

Too many rifles being sold in .308, or you wouldn't see them filling up the catalogues. There are quite a few 'new' calibers (WSSM, anyone? Half the WSM lineup???) that are already disappearing. It was a standard sniper rifle caliber for a long time for a reason; it, like the .30-06, etc. ,will be here long after we're all dead and dust.

Here are two rifles I got just in the last week... WTF both are 308!

New to me 7600 Police 16.5" pump action rifle...

My second Ruger Scout rifle this one with Nitron Blackening...

Yep, give it a few years and the .308win will be on the edge of extinction. Last time I was at the range looking in the 5 gallon .308 brass bucket, it was only 3/4 full. Normally its heaping with brass all over the ground around it. That must mean everyone is getting tired of their .308. You all better sell them to me for cheap.

A BC that blows the doors off any sub 200 grain 30 cal pill, shot from a 2.8" OAL magazine at 2980 fps in a 22" pipe. If bullet strength is a concern feel free to substitute a 160 accubond.

308? Pulleeeez...

I'll take the AI version (7WSM)- 3100fps with the same bullet, albeit from a 24" pipe, and brass that doesn't need trimming! :D

Anybody that says the 7WSM is disappearing should look at the ammo shelves and rifle catalogues. Manufacturers are announcing new rifles chambered in 7WSM for a reason.
