.35 Remington
I've got a Marlin 336CS in .35 Remington, I've had it for 34years now , I think mine was made in 1959. I wouldn't sell mine for anything , it's a great bush gun ( 200 gr. bullets ) effective range is 150 yards . Shot a whitetail with last Nov. one round was all it needed. I was at Lebaron's last Oct., and they didn't have any ammo for it , and told me they weren't going to bring it in anymore , because they don't sell much of it . It is a better round than the 30-30 , 32 special. It never became as popular as the others , had to get a couple of boxes at Ellwood Epps. It's worth hand loading the .35 , and the accuracy from the Marlin surprises alot of people . But, I was reading about Marlin's NEW .308 express rifle and cartridge , sounds very impressive , and looks like it will bridge the gap between a bush gun and a rifle that can be used out to 300 yards (same ballictics as .308 ) there's 2 models , I think I'd prefer the blued one with the 22 inch barrel , rather than the SS model with 24 inch tube .Anyone right now who's looking for a rifle for hunting in terrain like Ont., should look at the new Marlin .308 express. LOL Joe
