Is the 35 Rem. alive in Canada?

I am able to buy it in western canada so it's got to be around in the east---I managed to buy a pile of brass at gun show and will again just to be sure--I had a notion that perhaps 308win could be sized and trimmed to work but no such luck however I want to look at 300savage brass real hard. Worse comes to worse the barell can be chambered for a 358 variant and kept at 35 rem pressures and your good to go. Do a search on the Marlin thread on 24 hour campfire for info on the conversion.
I love the Cartridge in the Marlin336.

Roadwarrior where is L'arcerot located? I am in the Gatineau area fairly often and always looking for another place to look around. I didn't know about Fern sports only bought some fishing stuff there once.

senior, you are comparing spouses with tentatively buying a .35 remington lever gun? We all know where your sleeping tonight buddy! hehehehe.

I never said anything about getting rid of anything "old". I said I wouldn't go looking to buy a gun in a hard to find caliber. ...are you having a senior moment? hehhehe.

I remember reading a woods and waters or a similar outdoor book a few years ago and in a letter to the editor someone asked "Why does everyone claim this 35 caliber is one of the best... the ballistics dont seem the greatest"etc etc etc... the editor wrote back in the simple words.... "Just because it is"....
I thought that was cool...one of the best bush guns !

I found that finding a marlin 336 in 35 rem was harder then finding the ammo itself. I phoned nearly every shop in bc, alberta and sascatchewan before I found anything in 35 rem. Nearlly all of them had at least one box of ammo on the shelf thou. Wholesale lists one in there catalogue for about 450 bucks but it has probably been on back order for the last 15 years, and only advertised to driver me to drinking. The shooters choice also ists one on there site for 630 bucks, I guessing they charge more because they can actually get one in stock. I refuse to part with the one that I have, I have grown to love it and deer seem to fear it!

My dad has used a Remington Model 141 and a Model 81 for years. Both are in .35 Remington and in very good condition. I found a Model 600 in .35 Remington about 3 months ago at the Kenogami Gunshop in Swastika, ON. It was in very good condition and he was asking $600. I was there again last week and it's still on the shelf. I even mentioned it here on CGN but nobody scooped it, yet. One of the other fellows in our gang used a Remington 141 for years and also a Model 81 in .35 Remington. He knocked a couple of nice bucks clean off there feet at close range and had them get up and run off. He uses a .30-06 now. My dad still swears by the .35 Remington though. I have an uncle that has a 141 and has flattened a pile of deer with it over the years. I've looked at that Remington 600 in 35 and seriously thought about. I am waiting for the new Ruger Frontier Rifles to come out in .358 Winchester though instead.

My 2 cents.
