Is the ACR worth it?

Well, if we're posting photos... :)

Elcan OS3 is correct. I tried a few optics on this rifle, but always went back to this one. It's not too heavy, great glass, and works well (it's an Elcan, so no surprise) and looks right at home on the ACR. Older pic with the folding stock:

Would you guys say the Herron Arms barrels are the best ones to buy? What sort of price point are those generally at?

Herron preferably with the .223 wylde chambered Bartlien barrel. Thats what mine is and its awesome.

Conversion runs approx $1k, so plus the cost of your host ACR, and shipping both ways. Honestly though, dollar for dollar you are better off buying a DMR ACR from IRG, and swaping the PRS2 stock for a fixed carbine or enhanced folder, then pick your handguard. I say this because the DMR comes with the Geissele Super ACR trigger pre-installed ($400 value), and NR out of the box ($500-$1000 value). This means no dicking around shipping back and forth ($200 value if you had to ship it back and forth - paying shipping and insurance).

Cheapest you can build a Herron ACR with a Super ACR trigger is $3700 if you pick up the used host ACR at $2000. Chances are you will actually pay $2200-$2400, putting the total to $3900-$4100.

The DMR from IRG for 2125usd (hopefully they will get more https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/for...88-NON-RESTRICTED-in-Canada-and-ready-to-ship) will land at your door for $3000cad. You can then order an enhanced folder from Gravel agency for $270. Now you have the same gun as the Herron more or less, but all factory for $3285. And if you sell the PRS2, your probably close back to $3000cad again.

So my question is - Do you think the NR bushmaster ACR is worth it? Or should I go another avenue with the NR black rifle?
.

To me, yes

But for one and only reason. It is the only non restricted with a true quick change Caliber system. If you plan to keep the rifle 223, there are lots of other NR options

I got my conversion done at arms east for under 600 including shipping. Looks and functions great. I am extremely happy with the acr and the conversion. Like it much better than the modern hunter or tavor I had.
Price wise I have 2200 into the acr and 600 into the conversion.
And I actually like the quad rail. Still might buy one of the new light weight forearms if I do the carbon fibre lower.

My friend has one like your setup with the same optic. The Charging handle seems to hit the red dot though. He has it in tandem with a 3X magnifier that can be flipped out of the way when not needed. So it has to be mounted fairly far forward. Did you find a way to make the charging handle with with that optic?

Yes... I flipped it but didn't like how low it was so I took the plastic off, put it in a vice and bent it to my liking , now it's perfect ☺
