Is the gen 4 glock 17 good to go?

^ agree 110%

Toothpaste lubes better then frog lube and smells the same :p

Never blame the gun when you lube it with POS frog lube

Shame, the stuff was expensive. Summer lube I suppose?

not even summer lube "its go in the trash lube ;)"

I use normal CLP on my glock and SIG and never had a problem :) Shot well over 50k through my SIG and about just over 1000 through my glock

On the glock you just need to lube around the outside of the barrel and rails

I am using "ballistol'' at the moment and am quite impressed. Really slicks metal surfaces up and is actually good for wood and leather.

(yes, I heard about the stuff from hickok45 cou: )

LOL, I heard about this stuff from hickok45 as well :) I've been using G96 in my Glock too, and it works OK, but I'd like to try the Ballistol.

So, where do you get it in Calgary, besides Ammosupply.ca? I would buy from them, its just not convenient for me. If you prefer, please PM me.

I use Ballistol to condition my pet dogs coat (It says it is ok to do that right on the container). On the upside my dog keeps on running in subzero and in sandy hot conditions. Also, she resists corrosion and sheds carbon and soot quite well.

I think a Gen4 Glock 17 is coming my way as soon as I find a new production one! Thanks guys.

G96 is your friend when it comes to lube in Canada.
I have a bottle of G96 synthetic lube, hate it. In winter it shows bad fingerprints on a cold rifle barrel, kinda like its not protecting or something, gets all blotchy and when I put other lubes on it everything is normal. I use it now for around the house general oil.

So last week I buy a 40ml bottle of liquid froglube. I subsequently clean and lube my handguns (Glock 17 gen 4 inclusive) and a few rifles without putting much of a dent into the 40ml. Fast forward to this weekend (8 degrees centigrade overcast, wet) and guess what!? F$%king piece of sh1t Glock won't fire. Light primer strikes for all but 1 round!

Not necessarily Glocks fault, I'm blaming myself as when lightly lubricating the points on the pistol I shot the slightest of "squirts" backward into the firing pin hole. FrogLube tightens up quite a bit in the cold unbeknownst to me. It became viscous enough to slow down the striker causing light strikes (bit of "learn from my mistakes" for froglube users).

All that aside, WTF! I thought this thing will fire when it's full of strawberry jam!? When it's not throwing brass in my face, it's not throwing projectiles, which is redundant 'cause I can't hit anything with them anyhow!

Is it possible I'm allergic to plastic!? All my other center fire guns worked that day, and they were lubed as well.

So you just squirted liquid Froglube on your Glock? No warm-up of the pieces? No Froglube paste applied while the pores of the metal pieces are opened-up?

I'm curious because I've had no issues with the Froglube paste (applied as recommended by the manufacturer).
