Is the HK MR556 available in Canada?

I’ve been looking at the AR15’s, which look sweet, but then I came across the HK MR. I wasn’t sure if it is only available in the US, or if there is a Canadian version.

We have the version that is made in Germany called the MR223, the only draw back is, it's receiver pins are offset by 6mm to meet German export laws, This mean you cannot swap your lower or upper receiver with another manufacture, but why would you really want to anyway!

The MR556a1 you can swap lower & uppers with other company's but keep in mind the barrel is not made by HK directly but Daniel Defense, last time i checked anyway. Also other parts are made by other companies to satisfy the "Made In America" lobbyist, which is cool.

Just buy the MR223 and you won't ever look back.

Not sure if you can even get the MR556A1 in Canada because of the lovely US State Department. The MR223 is solid (albeit quite pricey), and I don't really see a need for lower compatibility if it only comes as a complete rifle.

You can get the MR223 up here, and if you have the cash they are a great rifle. I have been using 63 and 77 grain .556 ammo since the first day I purchased mine, with no issues at all. Other than the pin placement it is the same as the MR556.

I've seen an MR223 at Italian Sporting Goods in Vancouver but that was over a month ago...

There is a MR223 on for sale on EE for almost two months now another listed on Wolverines for just as long.

people are probably hoping for the MR556 - but the fact it is stamped 556 probably has casted the death spell on exportation.

Beside, FN sports does not get their stuff from HK US. FN sports get their HK directly from Germany. The chance of seeing quantity import of HK556 is slim.
