I have some first hand experience with Remington's "cheap" rifles and wouldn't buy one, trade into one or borrow one. They were designed to be an economical entry level rifle. If you are on a tight budget, buy a Lee Enfield. They are a proven rifle, ammunition is readily available, parts are easily found and they can be scoped. A decent second hand rifle of any make can be found for less than what Remington wants new for the 770 or 710.
