I had to remove my rear sight to mount my scope. Your shield is a low enough profile. I did add a weaver base to mine (lol..I had lots of weaver rings, and no rimfire/11mm) new base from my local shop was 12$'s.
x2 on your shield being aesthetic vs. "needed". It does look distinctive though. lol, Now the 10/22 guys will be jumping ship for an accurate .22!
