Is the sig522 restricted in canada

Played with one at Cabelas in Grand Forks. Wow what a nice little .22! Would be my choice if it was available in Canada but unfortunately my government only trust me with none scary looking .22's! B*STARDS!

In the receiver, they fail to weld in a special block which in fact could allow them to turn into ful autos by simply changing the trigger group and modifying the bolt. Its desigend for the U.S market not Canadiand. We get SAN's as there is no way in hell they can be converted. wthout completely changing the rifle. for example the 556's in the U.S. mostly have full auto bolt carrier groups. Just a little insight as to why that gun would be so awful in Canada aimho

Lets see you have to change the trigger out.. so thats 1 thing.. then you also have to mod the bolt...

isn't that the same thing that the guys in the us do too 10/22 to make them full auto...

easy to convert blah blah bunch of bs..

Sig522 lr

Has anybody heard an update on the Sig522 LR status in Canada? If so who is going to be stocking them? There only seems to be rumor out there and no listing in CFC's database yet(any classification, can't see it listed)

Classified as a "Prohibited" Firearm, based on the assertion that the gun is a Variant of the SIG 550/551 which are named prohibs.

We are currently appealing this ruling and are awaiting our court date which is set for later this year. It is our belief that they have erred in their classification... but we also believe that this will be tied up in the courts for quite some time. Even if we win at this first level, we expect the crown will appeal the decision so figure this is a 3 to 5 years court battle before it's actually decided.

Prohib, very similar to the GSG MP5, its shocking cus the MP5 copy has totally different insides to a real MP5. Really just looks and stupidity.
