This coming from a Tavor fanboy...

The tavor fanboys just don't want to admit a 1000$ rifle is more accurate than their 2700$ rifle. Think of how much iwi is profiting on that gun, it's all polymer and cost nothing to mold. The t97 is milled from aluminum on the receiver so you know it took some effort to make. Yes the t97 has some issues with mags but it's a commie gun built for the needs of a soldier and what he's issued to run with the gun.

The price isn't just about accuracy, it's about ergonomics as well. The two rifles are I two totally different classes as far as function goes. You don't see people trying to build after markets parts to upgrade the mag release, or the optics mounting or the flash hider of the Tavor.

And I say this owning a type 97 and having shot the Tavor. The type 97 is not a better gun than he Tavor.

That being said, we haven't actually seen a comparison of the Tavor vs the type 97 accuracy wise on paper. Same shooter, same optics, same ammo on the same day at the same range. Make the external factors the same, and see how they do.

id like to see the hebrew hammer get dunked in mud and still funtion. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l1yZ2LMZLAw

Snow count? Go to the end of the ak47 segment. He had a tavor buried in snow the whole range session.

Go to 7:13....

And of course this cold sink test of the Tavor....

And the IWI extreme conditions video...

And the Tavor mini mud bath...

Laughable.
I owned the t97 first, and took a tavor on trade a few weeks after.
I really didn't want to like the tavor, the plan was to turn it around on the ee immediately and keep the t97.
However I was very impressed with the tavor, mostly by the build quality and design. You've got to live with one for a week or two and break it down to check out the internals to get it. It is of much higher quality and durability than the t97.

Imo snow isnt really a true test, it melts quickly and falls off on the first round. Mud sticks and slows down the action. It also gets into every place it shouldnt. I havent seen a mud test on a tavor yet. The internals of the t97 is your common rotating bolt desighn used on the swiss arms, dragonov, type 81, ak and the list goes on. its a good bolt design used on some of the most reliable weapons of today. Those polytech legends are beautiful btw if i could have one ak thatd be it.

Go back and review the completed post I made....

That reminds me of Krusty the Clown. "It's not good, it's good enough"

I've stated in a previous post, I've never held a Tavor, or seen one in person. I'm still a little bit of a fanboy for the Tavor. I own a T97 and have shot and handled the chit out of it. I'm a T97 fanboy too!

From shooting both, i haven't seen a difference in accuracy. The tavor has better ergo for the controls but the fact that it pisses hot gasses into your eye when you shoot it is absurd and is the reason it rarely gets brought out. I like the t97 better, just wish it had better ergo's
