As a long time AR15 user the X95 is just more natural. Back in 2013 when IWI USA invited me upstairs at their booth at SHOT to check it out I already liked it then.

I recently bought the TAR-21 due to cost ($2500 after tax), aftermarket part availability, and legacy; it is tried and true at this point.

Plus I like the ability to mount an MLOK hand guard.

I've owned a gen 1, 2, and now have the X95.

All great, but I like the mag release and ergonomics of the X95 myself.

And I'm faster on target with it, faster with mag changes, and faster on double taps between multiple targets.

But I will never knock the Tar21 either.

Having owned both, I prefer the TAR-21 from an ergonomic perspective. I found that the handguard layout on the original Tavor was more conducive top the Israeli forearm rest shooting style. The balance also felt better IMO.

The X95 definitely had a better trigger and superior sling mounting options. That said, a Lightning Bow and new handguard could resolve both of those issues for ~$350.

I sold the X95 and am more than happy with the TAR-21.

I personally think it will boil down to personal ergo preference. A lot of people who are used to the TAR-21 will not like the new ergos and layout. Lots of first time buyers might prefer the X95 style ergos and layout. Essentially its still the same rifle with some layout changes and a better stock trigger and integrated rails. Not having had trigger time on the Tavor ( time to get comfortable with its layout) I prefer the X95 and could not be happier with it. So saying one is "better" than the other is probably the wrong question. The better question would be: "Which ergos and layout do you prefer and suits you best personally" ~ my 2 cents

I think the X95 offers some neat upgrades over the TAR21, but I've used TAR21 for so many years that I've come to like the ergonomics. I may buy an X95 in addition to my TAR21, but I don't think it offers enough over a TAR21 to replace it. If I had to choose one, I'd keep the TAR21.
