Is the Tavor just the Flavor of the Day?

They are free to discuss whatever they want, however stupid YOU may think it is. The only "idiot" here is the person bashing others for no apparent reason. Keep in mind, this is a HOBBY to most of us. How we choose to spend our spare time should have nothing to do with you. If you have a problem with how we spend our spare time, please seek psychological help. What does and does not "make a difference" in my life has nothing to do with you.

No apparent reason? The Tavor is being badmouthed by a few armchair commandos because some of the features - which, considering our laws and possible uses, aren't even a factor in the purchase of said rifle - happen to be different from the configuration they're hopelessly dependent on.

But you're right, feel free to waste more time arguing their merits, or playing the comparison game. I'll leave it at this: intellectual masturbation.

Peace.

Soli,
Let me understand you correctly. Because I "play cowboy games"(which makes no sense, three gun consists of rifle pistol and shotgun. You could use single action revolvers an old break shotgun and a bolt action rifle. Then again, that would be called SASS or CAS.) I am merely a wannabe or a poser? I mean, no one here will ever see any combat or put their firearms to use in such a capactiy. So seeing as how the Tavor was designed as a combat rifle and you proclaim that you are on the waiting list, does that mean you're a basement poser? You make no mention of your involvment in "action shooting" sports.

On a side note. You mention your support for repealing OUR stupid gun laws. Where does Quebec fall into our? Last I checked you folks never officially joined Canada and the last time I checked there is still a fair number of you folks who wish to separate? Why would you obey a law imposed by another nation???

Another nation? Last I checked, Quebec was still a part of Canada. ;)

I think you took my use of the expression "cowboy games" a little too literally: that's the problem in this place, you know... people just don't read between the lines. Anyway, I suppose I'm as much a basement poser as the rest of you, since the only use I will make of the Tavor is hunting and target shooting.

Then again, what the firearm was designed for is of no interest to me: its esthetics, compatibility with AR15 magazines and overall quality are good enough points for me to consider the purchase without any consideration for its usefulness as a 3-gun contender. There are other rifles for that, if that's really your forte.

Last post in this thread, no point wasting time on people who'll misunderstand or misinterpret me. Cheers...

I think the Tavor is a good choice for when the SHTF type of gun.

Well, I think, with him gone, we might get back to things that interests us here. Mainly guns. Not sovereignty issues and such.

When I watched the Future Weapon episode, the bold guy said that because of the way Tavor is designed, it stays on target better than traditional rifle with all the length at the front. Is that accurate? The further front you hold the weapon, less swaying you have with it?

High school physics. Try it out. Get some broom handles the lengths of a Tavor and an AR, attach some weight on it (directly at the rear for the tavor, near the middle for the AR). And practice aiming at things (finger of the trigger, ofcourse). :D

Let us know what you find.

I'm sorry if my posts continue to hijack this thread but I have to ask. Soli, could you please inform the rest of us just when Quebec decided to play along with the other provinces and sign into the Canadian Constitution? Quebec also received "soverign nation" status not too long ago as well. More correctly, "a soverign nation within Canada". So what does that mean? Quebec will still reap the benfits of Canadian tax dollars but gets to play its own game with its own rules when Quebec sees fit? The way I see it, this whole "soverign nation" title is lip service to the whiners we know as the French. Whether this title applies to you or any other CGN member I don't know. What I do know is that you as well as other Quebec residents are involved in the shooting community. I guess you can't be that bad ;)

You also mention your preference for the Tavor due to its quality, esthetics and compatability to AR magazines. As for quality, have you handled or fired one? If not, how are you able to comment on its quality? Esthetics, well that's a personal thing and to each their own. Compatible with AR mags, why yes it is. So is the Ar180B, M96 and the XCR. All are non restricted and all are cheaper than the Tavor. Some even share parts compatability with the AR platform. As another CGN member posted "why settle for less when you can have more?"

Hey, anyone know yet if the Tavor is capable of mounting a bipod??

TDC

AR180B isnt a military arm, neither is the M96 or the XCR, so they are automatically inferior to a real military firearm because the Tavor has actually had to be tested for adoption and has to be manufactured to meet a military contract requirements, which none of the 2nd rate civilian stuff you mention has done.

Scarecrow,
But I thought "military proven" firearms are of no use to those of us who will never employ them in such a role??? So why such an important criteria?
