ALot of people tell me the Norinco Tokarev is crappy when it comes to accuracy.

pros vs. cons

PLease give me some reviews.
thanks

The grip angle is wrong (unless it has target grips), sights hard to see against a black target, trigger is long and hard. But many people like them anyhow.

I have two - a Russian and a Hungarian, both military issue 7.62 guns. The grip angle isn;t "wrong", it's just not typical of most guns made in North America. It works just fine and actually helps with a faster reset for the SNAPPY 7.62 cartrige. Also the sigs are to hard to see. They're actually quite high profile for a military pistol.

They are also very tough.

That being said, don't expect it to match a current production SIG or a $1000 1911 accuracy from these. They will generally shoot to POA and print groups as large as 6" at 25 yeards off the rest. Mostly this is due to generous barrel bushing tolerances meant to increase reliability in the mud & dirt of a battlefield.

The post-war ones seem to be a little more accurate but the wartime ones look way cooler and usually also have either a thin finish or little finish at all given the hard use they saw.

I picked up a pair of 9mm tokarevs from marstar(in my avarter) they were the yugo ones ($160)

The finish has allot of pits but the insides are dam near perfect. I find they point realy well... and I love the slim profile... would conceal well. I like how it disasembles(whold trigger group just pops out)... it allso has a full lenght recoild spring guide. Triggers shure could use some work.

The one I had was..... (I think mine was made in China.)

Inaccurate, not reliable..

Too many other choices out in "gunland" now to even consider a Tok, unless you are just a sadomasochist....

For Example:

Star BM... Costs less than $200/100% reliable with ball ammo/mine is very accurate...
IMO light years better than the Tokarev.. (Or at least the one I had.)

These things are onl a couple hundred bucks. I am not sure what people expect.

My Tokarevs are just for fun. I don't expect them to be used to compete or anything.

I had one for a while, it wasn't very accurate with the nork TT ammo. Eventually, you get tired of just making noise and expect your guns to perform a little bit better. I traded it off for some ammo.

Toks are not known for their accuracy at all. They are cheap fun or collection pieces. I have a couple a norc and an authentic Russian (confescaated from dear old dad). They both shoot almost the same but the Russian has a better finish and feels better.

i've found that a little playing around with the reload numbers helped a great deal- 130 grain slugs instead of 124s, ( the 115s were absolutely terrible) around 5 grains of 231( why no- one else uses this in 9mm is beyond me- it's good powder, although a little smokey) and a standard primer( i had some fun with winchesters, but back to cci and they were great) - and the jamming thing with the mag is non-existant
