Is the type 81 worth it

You got a fixed or folder stock? I have a fixed one,i didnt shoot it much but i like it very much. Utilitarian finish but decently assembled and isnt bent as other Type 81 were. Yes is expensive at $1000 but i wanted one so i got one.

I have a fixed stock. I like that it’s a bit of a rough and ready rifle to be honest , I can throw it in with my axe and chainsaw and go out the woods and not feel like it’s gonna break or worry about it getting scratched.

I'm not reading 13 pages. The cz858 or whatever they are called now is the superior weapon. That's coming from someone that actually likes chicom weapons.

I own a cz858 also, its accurate, reliable but i didnt use it much. I preffer the bolt desing of the Type 81. I didnt do serious accuracy test with the T81,i hope to get more time when the winter will be over. Most say that its a 5 moa rifle. The sight are not helping for accuracy but i will see. I guess like sks's ,somes are more accurate than others. Would be great to get somes spare parts again for the T81 but honest, themechanic seems sturdy enough. Good parts to have would be extractor with spring and a firing pin,for the rest, i would not worry much.

I thought the same thing until I got mine, it’s similar in function but it is better than an sks. The rotating bolt makes it much smoother to shoot. A guy Can’t really go wrong with it though as they sell used for more than they cost new. In the end it comes down to what a guy wants as far as his collection or interests goes. Ya an sks will shoot about the same but so will a savage axis compared to a Remington 700 , if we only bought guns that were vastly different to any other gun on the market we would have quite a boring hobby in the end.

Is there really any appreciable difference in "smoothness" compared to an 8.5 lb rifle because it has a tilting and not rotating bolt?

I'll admit I've never shot the 81 but seems like one would have to have quite the shoulder to notice the difference solely on that. Cool if so though but really curious if the "better than an SKS" part can be quantified.

i shot different firearms in folder option and the 81 is the easiest to shoot so far.

Cool! Due to it having the best designed folder or due to it being appreciably smoother shooting?

The folder on the 81 looks pretty good is why I ask! Have had folders that run the gamut from great to horrible but the 81 looks like a very nice folder for the money (comparatively)

certainly the design. or the weight of the rifle but the other ones i shot were not light either.
