Is there a black shotgun to fit my needs?

Sorry for the cross-post from hunting shotguns, but I'm not getting the suggestions there that I expected. I'm not looking for a used beater hunting shotgun, I'm looking for new and modern options.

I'm looking for a compact 12 gage. Don't care if it's tactical or not.

Preferable to me:

1) 12 gauge
2) 18" barrel or LESS.
4) interchangeable chokes in a choke brand that is readily available.
5) suitable for left and right handed use.
6) synthetic furniture would be nice, but not a must. I don't want rail sections on it.
7) Generally snag free. No rail sections and such to snag on my gear.
8) tube fed. No magazines please. This is for general purpose bush carry, so I'm stuck with 2+1 anyhow.
9) reliable with good prospects for parts availability in the future.
10) As inexpensive as possible while still reliable and meeting above criteria. I'm not looking for $1000+ boutique shotgun.
11) reasonably light.

What are my current options?

I love my Fabarm, 20", pump, black w/ synthetic stock. Multiple sight options depending on the model you choose, they make a few different lengths. Most are externally threaded for chokes, have a receiver and forearm mounted rail options for sights and lights etc. Super light and smooth actions, I'm not worried about dragging it in the bush. My guns get shot not rubbed with a diaper. I picked up 4 different chokes for it and made a dowel to limit the tube mag to 2+1 from the stock 7+1 it holds with 3" shells. Oh and I'm a southpaw, the safety is a bit small but I'm not one to rely on a safety though.

I love my Fabarm too! But I don't think it fits the inexpensive as possible category.

Claven, have you looked through the various turkish guns coming into the country lately?

I had a Hatsan several years ago that was great. Little Marine magnum style.

These days there's tons of Turkish guns from Derya and other manufacturers. Let me see if I can dig up some potential candidates...

These are off the distributors website, so you'd have to find yourself a local gun store that could order them in.

Derya Lion, SPX-103 MSRP is $320

Uzkon AS44 MSRP is $295

Derya Lion SPX-106 MSRP is $395

Canam has sold them and The Shooting Edge in Alberta is the Canadian distributor.

As tvpp said they are not a budget black 12g but they are great, lots of good Turkish shotguns coming into Canada at the moment. Even the dominion arms Grizzlies Canam sells are good, multiple lengths. Mag and tube fed, bead and ghost ring sights. They are rem 870 clones, lots of people on here have them.

TV-PressPass hit the nail on the head, there. Lots of great shotguns coming in from Turkey at the moment.

I've been trying to figure if I should get an Asil BullDog... Comes with a 13 inch and 24 Inch barrel, 3 choke set (not sure what thread pattern it is, but as a general rule, the Turkish guns will match "something" fairly standard). For $298 +tx + ship (so, figure $350 all in).

I have a Hatsan MPA-TS (semi-auto) that's been great, a "few" single shot break actions I'm very happy with. Lots of people very happy with the Turkish guns at the moment.

Here's a link and a pic for the BullDog. You might also want to check out what NASguns and WestRifle, among others, are bringing in right now.

I'd also suggest some of the Turkish stuff. For the money its a good choice. The Grizz can be OK but it's heavy for it's size. The stock and forearm weigh about as much as the metal ! Not so great for bush haulin'.

Fabarm is awesome but I'd never recommend them for a budget SG.

Anyhoo, you can probably get a Maverick 88 for aboot $300.
Edit: You only get chokes with 22" barrel and up, but it is 5 1/4 lb

Off the cuff, I would always suggest an 870 with a RemChoke barrel; however, the whole 'left and right hand use' pretty well boils things down to either an Ithaca (seldom with chokes unless new), or the Mossberg 500 line.

+2 for Maverick 88. Cheap enough you won't care if it gets beaten around in the bush. WSS usually has them for $220 to $240 when they aren't sold out. Compatible with Mossberg parts if you're interested in throwing a shorter barrel or different stock on it.

Don't think you'll satisfy all these criteria, no matter how much you spend. Most 18" barrel and under shotguns aren't threaded for chokes. Rails are very common nowadays on short barreled shotguns.

I suggest you buy an 18" Mossy/Mav and get it threaded. Or purchase a Moss 500 multiple barrel kit ($539 @ Kelly's) and you have something for every purpose (you can take the rail off - 4 screws).

I love my 14" Fabarm Pro Forces. Definitely expensive, but it's short barreled, has fantastic fiber optic sights, smooth as hell, reliable, already threaded for chokes...

the only issue I really see with the Turkish stuff is that I have no idea if there will be parts support 4 or 5 years from now when it inevitably breaks :(

I'm totally fine with the 870's and clones - parts are falling form the trees for those. I just don;t see any 18" or less tubes for them with chokes.

Fabrics look cool. Will have to see if there are any dealers with stock...?

I've had a maverick before - no choke tubes :(
