Is there a gunsmith that sells tuned norc M14/305 like gunnar tuned 1911?

I am once again building, repairing, and accurising M-14 rifles ...
BUT,
these days I fool around with guns strictly as a hobby [/B.

Since I am no longer a Canadian LICENSED gunsmith, I can no longer legally work on OTHER people's guns for profit.

Right now I have two spare Norinco M-14 rifles available that I have "tuned" [ or as I like to say, "Tweaked" ]. This tweaking is basically going through the entire rifle, inspecting and correcting all those little things the Chinese didn't get right, and the importer simply doesn't care about enough to bother fixing.

Truthfully, with most of the newer Chinese 14s available, this tweaking may not be much. But, on the other hand, with some of the brand new Chinese 14rifles, it can mean re-indexing the barrel, installing a GI bolt to correct MASSIVE long headspace, redoing the trigger to correct bad pull or safety issues, and if the rear sight is obviously bad, adding a GI rear sight. In general, I spend an average of 1 1/2 hrs on my basic "tweak". I charge $ 700.00 plus shipping for one of my basic tweaked M-14 rifles.

Available now is one as new Norc M-14, 20 rds fired for function testing and sighting in. It has the barrel indexed correctly [ front sight is vertical ], the flashider, gas assembly and op rod guide are all tight and aligned correctly, and the trigger job is adequate for a rack grade rifle. The rear sight is functional, and the headspace is .008" over 7.62 NATO GO ... which is not great, but is actually a bit better than average on the new rifles I've been checking lately. This headspace is good for shooting 7.62 NATO, and is usually OK for shooting .308 commercial ammo, as long as you don't plan to reload. . This rifle shot about 1 3/4" groups @ 100 yds with the SA ball ammo I sighted it in with.

I also have another Chinese M-14 rifle that is "accurised " just a bit more. This one has a better trigger job, and has demonstrated the ability to put 4 out of five shots into 3/4" at 100 yds ... with the single flyer pulled out to 1 1/2". Headspace is again .008" over 7.62 NATO GO ... which is not great, but OK for 7.62 NATO, and should be fine for shooting .308 as long as you don't plan to reload. . This one is available for $ 800.

I also have a 18 3/4" BARREL LENGTH shorty, which is still in process, a JAE 100 TARGET/SNIPER stock [ $ 950 with the matching handguard ].

This should give you some idea of pricing for tweaked M-14 rifles. Remember, since I am doing this strictly as a hobby, my prices may be a lot cheaper than a real gunsmith, who has to support his shop. But, on the other hand, I DO NOT work on other people's guns, only my own.

Yes, there are gunsmiths who work on tuning and accurizing them. I like sending people to Ellwood Epps in Orillia, ON.

Unfortunately, I don't spend much time tuning other people's rifles, only my own. I am not a licensed gunsmith, either.

BUT I do teach you HOW to tighten things up while you make mistakes, I'm right there with the finger of authority (ha ha ha) LOL....

Or you can watch my videos of the 2004 Abbotsford Clinic and see what Skullboy, Lazerus2000 , and myself look like.

There is a certain gunsmith in Alberta who shall not be named on this board who is now accurizing M-14S' He also brings in the JAE-100 stocks.

I don't know about that...

I talked to him about 2 weeks ago while buying other goods from him for my AWSM.

He mentioned that he was not going to be seriously pursuing such a venture with M1As, as the costs outweighed the returns. ie - not really what he would consider a precision rifle.

Out of curiousity, why wouldn't you want to use reloads with this?

Thanks
Ryan
