Is there a market for custom wood furniture (CZ 858)

My Brother is very talented with wood & wood machinery,I have asked if he will make me upper/lower hand guards and pistol grip..And he loves a challenge, and is a perfectionist.
Questions
#1 How do I remove the hand guards without,any damage to the metal?I need to give him the pieces to make a one off.
#2 Is there enough people who love real wood that it would be worth his while to make these as a hobby... of course he would have to break at least even or come out ahead for his time and costs?

Any thoughts?

1: have you tried to remove them? Mine came off easy with no instructions.

Trick is turning out a set that's close enough to factory to justify the cost. If you do a little searching you will find some examples of what people have made as one-offs.

CZ 858 is a very popular rifle right now. I think he could easily sell a quality wood handguard set.

Most people aren't fans of the beaver barf stock 858's come with. At a reasonable price, AK style stocks made of real wood would sell like crazy.

The trick would be, being speedy at making the pieces. then the purchaser can do the final touches Sanding,finishing,staining.

I agree--a nice set of rough pieces in a variety of quality wood could be very popular, supplemented with some high end finished pieces.

any ideas on design at this stage? I'm going to be taking the plunge on one of these soon and cant wait to fix the finish and furniture. I would like factory VZ 58 wood, but wonder what the consensus of the market would be: VZ or AK?

if he makes them, make them each unique, dont bother making them really cheap. Play with grain patterns and configurations (ie. make grain on hand guard run vertically like tiger stripe).

I agree.... but then everyone wants it as cheap to buy...but super high quality.... I know he will take the time to make the 1st one off nice.. and I will choose my wood... I always believe you get what you pay for...

I have no idea how long these pieces will take to make... but when he is done,I will post pics... and I will have better idea of what kind of time it took.

well if people want them un-finished I have 4 folder sets ready to go. 2 oak, 1 black cherry and 1 dark walnut. All the sets come with is the bottom and top handguards and pistol grip. Full sets (with a stock) should be ready very soon.
