I just noticed FF posted a bunch on their site (sadly with crappy pics and few details). FF is not an importer, so either en estate came in with a bunch of RC's or an import just arrived...

Any one know?

I would say they got a small number. Only 3 on the site, down to 2 now. My question is are they from recent US imports, with nasty billboard import markings?

$600 bucks for a beat up, non-matching Russian Capture?... Is it just me or is this a bit over priced?! Maybe $400'ish I would have thought...

Just sayin....

Yes, wonder if there are more about to surface. I look forward to seeing what the purchasers of this new tiny batch wounde up with. Based on the one photo I saw on the posting in FF's forum they look similar to earlier flights of these - at least the one I got. Were there more pictures showing greater detail? Yesterday's $400, is today's $650, and tomorrow's...?

Well I think they're all sold already. A short time ago there was 2 left now when I checked it out nothing shows up. At 650, RC's didn't last long on the EE.

Al Flaherty's got them for $620.00, just enough to make it exactly $700.00 once you add the theft charges, "ehem taxes".
I checked a few, and they are typical Russian refurbished.
That means mismatching, missing cleaning rod and lock screws, electro penciled serial numbers etc...
The metal was in great shape with good bores (the four that I checked), the wood however was pretty beat up.
For $700.00, I'll pass.

Any hard to find codes/makers? FF didn't list the receiver codes, just the year.

FF = Frontier Firearms
Both FF and Al Flaherty's are site sponsors, just look on the top for their banners.

I was more looking for the firearm's condition than for special codes, but I remember at least one "byf", and they all had the correct turned down bolt handle.

It will satisfy the Mauser drought and be a great shooter for anyone looking.
Good to see they found something more to bring in.
Now the crates of RC G43's in the Russian salt mines...

I agree to a point.... Every run of Mil surplus will be missed at sometime in the future, from the Enfield Snipers of yesterday to the Russian SKS of today.

That being said, the going for price for a really nice K98 with matching serial numbers is $800-1000. So $700 (tax in) for a beat up non-matching rifle sounds like gouging to me! Last time Marstar had the same rifles they were retailing at $400. Now they are 50%+ more?

There probably are a few nice ones in the bunch that are worth collecting, but I feel that they are a bit too steep on the whole.

Cheers

The last batch of non RC K98s went for 1700-2200 if I recall correctly. Someone please correct me if I am wrong,

I heard that the "batch" was a very large one, might be a container load. But if they are 'trickled-out' the price can be a lot higher as opposed to flooding the market. Might explain the OVER PRICED rifles....?
