Is there a lower that is non-restricted say a 80% lower style so the AR will act as a single shot rifle no mag well cut out ? Just to use the AR for hunting etc....

last time I looked the only areas on a 80% lower is pocket for trigger parts and pins, it does fit the upper and is 80%

Not entirely correct as an 80% lower does not have the rear take down pin recess milled out to allow the upper to mate to it unless you machine the fire group area out. There are so called 90% lowers in the U. S. that have this take down area milled out to allow the ability to couple the upper and lower even tho the fire group area remains incomplete.

There is no real legal definition as to what a 80% lower is! Some have all the machining done except for the trigger pocket. Look at the most recent Dlask lowers and Polymer80 Lowers, all sold as 80%ers and you can fasten a upper to them.

Once you can mount a upper and fire a round it is now a gun by legal definition. Until then the 80% or 90% title is just a number the manufacturer puts on their product.

Dlask has had several different variations of the 80% lower they sell over the years, some have even been sold without the buffer tube hole threaded.

Regardless of how you try to label it, once it can be joined with an upper and is capable of firing a round it needs to be registered and will be restricted.
If you want to hunt with a "black" rifle there are other options available.

Here is a picture of the current 80% Dlask lower. I think it should be obvious that you cannot fasten an upper to it as per what Sqr said.

The closest thing to an AR-style black rifle legal for hunting would probably be an Armalite AR-180B. They're out of production, but do occasionally show up in the EE.

Robinson Arms XCR-L and ATRS Modern Varminter are probably the closest things to an AR15.

Back in the 80's I rarely hunted with my AR15's. Now that I can't, I want to. Odd.

Here is a picture of a so called 90% lower that has the rear takedown pin completed sans the fire group area cavity. As it is you can couple the upper with this lower and have a mock-up of a complete AR.

The thinking or selling feature of this model of lower is ensure this area is already machined with the correct tolerances for a proper fit. So the story goes.

Funny cause the 80% lower I just bought from them has it machined out and it will fit a upper, it just needs the trigger pocket milled out (+trigger and selector holes drilled).

As I said earlier the 80%ers thay have sold over the years have varied in what machining operations have been done to them. Doesn't matter much right now anyway as they are all sold out! And if they get more 80%ers in in the future they could be different even again with whats machined on them.
