Is there a reasonable priced annealing machine made in Canada.

Pretty in Orange
While I am good at mechanical stuff, I'm not too hip on electronics, unfortunately.
What do I need to know about that thing?
It says 12-48 volt. So it will work through a wide range of voltage? As Recommend I'm using a 36v/16.6A PS
Can I get a transformer somewhere to step down house current 110V to power this? eBay is your friend
It is DC, so I would need to change from AC house current too? Yup
Would an old HO train set transformer work? Nope, not enough current. My HO train's PS has gauge with max 20v, 3A so not enough to drive IHU.

It also says:
3) For the object being heated, its size should not exceed 1/10 of inner space of coil (and if the object is in the shape of a cylinder, its diameter should not exceed 1/3 of diameter of coil), otherwise will cause over-load to burn the circuit or power supply.
but does not give a dimension of the coil. Is there enough clearance to accept a 50BMG at the shoulder? Seen it work in YouTube videos.

Thanks.

I'm intrigued!
I like building stuff, so maybe I'll go the induction route.
I was previously leaning towards the propane torch route before. Actually started scrounging up a few parts...

Don't like dealing with flames. For sure need to be FAR away from reloading station.
Like the accuracy of Induction. Timer goes down to 0.1sec. Plan on doing ladder test for best result.

Do we know this is a fact or is it the manufacture either not wanting the trouble to ship here or they are maybe getting a bit paranoid. or maybe the Gov. wanted them to get the expensive export permit. shame really

The US will not allow any automated annealer to be exported

Time to see if we can get a Chinese made knock-off for about $100

Fact, any automated reloading machine needs an export certificate as they fall under ITAR.

So is this only going to affect machines with a hopper to load cases. or will it include those with a wheel type that each case has to be loaded by hand. Or doe's anyone really know? I am looking for one and it was just 3 days ago I contacted Annealeez and at that time they were shipping to Canada. Today when I indicate not living in US system locks up. OR is again no one wants the trouble with permits to deal with Canada?

X-Reload (in Canada) sells the Benchsource, so the "hand fed" annealers are being imported by this dealer (and perhaps others).

well I ordered a unit from Annealeez got the web site to work. they say they are a little behind will be 10 to 15 days. so we wait and see how it goes. So $300.00 plus $65.00 shipping. duty I would think as well .

One could just fit the dillon case feeder on top of the annealer for automatic processing and feeding... You can get the feeder in canada.

x2. Looking at getting the Annealeez.

I've been using an Annealrite set up.

Can someone with the Annie annealer chime in on when the timer is on/off does it switch the induction Heating Unit on/off?
Can't figure out any other way but wonder if constant switching on/off of the IHU will fry something.

I ordered all the part for DIYer. Trying to decide to:
  1. Switch unit on/off for say 3.0sec or
  2. Leave unit on and after 3.0sec use Pull Type Solenoid to drop the brass

Already got the timer and proximity sensor working. Rest of components hopefully arrive this week. Might post a DIYer guide if I can it all working.
id go with 2

Got the IHU yest, wrap my own coil with i/d of 21mm, seems to work well. Manual testing guesstimate is under 5sec to turn the 650° tempilaq black at neck/shoulder, nothing on bottom 3/4 of body. Wow the coil gets hot, waiting for the aquarium pump to arrive.

Pros:
Timer to drop brass, don't have to worry about cycling IHU.
Switch unit on/off with proxmity detection so if that fails no issues. Units on only when annealing, should run cooler. For automation this seems safer.

Cons:
If proximity detector misses the brass will be well cooked.
Unit stays on, gets real hot.

Very simple to build one. I have about $50.00 into this one. The picture does not have the torch holder mounted yet. I am not sure if I can load a video of it working or not. It cycles a brass every 5-6 seconds so it doesn't take long to do a hundred brass.

I don't need one yet, but if the time ever comes that I do I'll build one probably similar to the above unit that Ruger built. It looks like a good simple and functional design.
