because of the prohibition on 4" barrels I cant find a short barreled revolver.

I would love to buy one if i could find something in .45 colt or .45 acp
does anyone know of a manufacturer who makes a revolver in these calibers with a 4 1/4 or 4 1/2" barrel?

Thx

I personally don't know of modern guns that aren't just 4", but there may well be some. Old Colt Model Ps came in 4-3/4" (and .45LC), of course, but they're not what I'd call "short-barreled guns. I did find a modern 4" (not .45) I wanted for my collection and paid about $200. for Barry Jensen at Bits of Pieces to manufacture a 107mm barrel, and re-register the gun as "restricted". But it's not what I'd call "short-barreled", either.

I am having "bits of pieces" barry shorten my ruger super redhawk to 106mm which is 4.2 inches (106.68mm) and it is going to be the cats ass.... going to shoot mostly 45 colt out of it, but it is chambered for the big .454 ;)

cost will be around $200 give or take...

Some of the supposed 4" S&W wheelguns actually have factory barrels on them that mike out to 106mm, verified & all.... ;)

Sweet

He's doing my gp100 too!

Have you considered a single action? These come in a couple of barrel lengths that are close to what you want & are in the restricted catagory....

This model includes an extra cylinder in .45 Auto that can be interchanged without the use of tools. :)

Sorry guys, I didn't mention I must be DA so I can take part in steelplate competition. I allready have a few SA. I also have a few automatics that I take to steelplate shooting.

My dealer told me they have a 4.2" Ruger redhawk on order. I am not telling who the dealer is. hehehe

Was a Bashaw Sports, and was shown that Ruger was coming out with a 4 1/4 in revolver this year! Cant remember the model number, but was a 357mag. give them a call.

my stainless S&W 681-3 .357 has a factory 4" barrel registered as restricted (106mm), beautiful gun and very rare..... for sale on the exchange too (sorry for the plug)

Ruger's 2009 catalogue has a great number of pistols - Blackhawks, Bearcats, GP100's, etc - listed as 106 mm "for handgun hunting in Canada".

Not much awareness there of Canadian handgun hunting regulations, but a sweet deal if they're actually doing it.

Found the 09 catalogue online. They are doing it!!! Over 105mm for the CDN market!!!!! EXCELLENT. Yes they say for hunting but it's really to get them in as restricted!!!! There is a Ruger revolver in my future!!!!

Kudos to Ruger for accommodating the Canadian market! I just wish that S&W could be convinced to do the same.
