Is there a short list of black and green rifles to stay away from?

I was looking at the JR carbine. I have read some negative reviews on this rifle but it is cheap compared to others. Does it make the list as a crapper. I have all the red rifles I want but looking to add some western weapons to the cabinet. If this one sucks please steer me in the right direction to a cheaper rifle that won't break the bank. Hopefully $1200 or less preferably under $1000.

The JR is a great PCC if that is what you are after. Most of the negative reviews came from early 45s. The 9mm and 40S&W versions seem to be solid.

I haven't herad a single bad thing about them. One guy at my LGS had a problem with winchester 9mm not clearing the barrel, but that was an ammo issue that winchester took care of.

After shooting my Thureon 10mm the power and fun factor are big and the rig is under 1K using Glock mag, cant compare with the JR but had the chance to shoot a little S-2000 and thouht it was pretty good for the price, no malfunctions and fairly accurate for open sights, tried a 9mm for 100 rounds... JP.

JRC in 9mm is a great rifle, I'm very pleased with mine, I run my own reloaded ammo and I get the occasional screwed spent case but thats likely due to my load and bullet type.

The JR Carbines tend to work their screws loose with a few mags worth of ammo, and I found mine would constantly FTF with hammer down on loaded chamber. Shame because it was a good shooter, very accurate with the Mossberg manufactured barrel. This was an updated version with the buffer fix.

The RFB has had several teething problems as evidenced by numerous posts and Youtube videos. It also seems to be plus-MOA accurate unless you shoot match handloads. Good enough for plinking and some short range (200-300m) hunting but not "serious" work. Others have had better success.

The XCR was a constant whipping boy with loosening screws, with matters exacerbated by the manufacturer's arrogance and lack of support. I seldom read about these problems now so either they've been worked out in latest production runs or users rectified them themselves.

NEA AR15s have a very sordid history involving rough machining, malfunctions, out of spec parts, spotty customer support, and of course the unethical shilling that occurred here several months ago. Some love them, some hate them, but it seems generally accepted that they are bottom tier in the AR world.

CSA rifles and carbines have been experiencing a fair number of issues. The latest post in the Red Rifles section is about an OOB ignition due to the barrel shifting 1/4" forward out of the trunnion. CZ858s made from ex-military parts seem to be more solid and reliable.

Not really a black rifle but the TNW Suomi M31s have been reported as having atrocious QC with barrel welds breaking and rough edges that need filing to make the gun feed.

As with any product, YMMV.

Barrel welds??? WTF? Who in there right mind welds anything on a barrel!

No kidding

The only two Black rifles I ever found soldier proof are the Swiss PE90 of course and hate to say it but mini-14 "yes they shoot like a SKS but are just as durable"

Mini-14's are durable, but you won't see a Swiss bolt do what my Mini bolt did.......

I would add the MR-1 to your short list being able to shot both my black and MR-1 side by side, i have yet to find a real advantage to my SA in any wich way and both being so accurate and reliable, if i had to pick one to run the MR-1 is lighter... JP.

Still beating that horse huh? Dsiwy said soldier proof, drop that MR-1 on the seated mag on a concrete floor without one in the chamber and tell me how it functions ;).

Of course the weak link in that scenario is the mag, but any piece of kit is only as good as the weakest link.

How can you say the Benelli MR-1 is "Soldier Proof" in any light, but especially when compared to a Swiss, I'm not even trying to boldly say it isn't, I've shot exactly 10 rounds through an MR-1, I'm just curious as to what destructive testing you've seen on the Benelli that would cause you to compare the two. We've just seen the destructive testing done on Swiss Arms rifles, and it is used throughout the world by many front line troops. Where as with the MR-1, we (Or at least I) have seen no destructive testing what so ever, can you show us some? It is also not fielded by any front line unit's or even marketed as a military rifle.
