Is there a 'standard' dovetail for pistols?

Hi guys,

In my continuing quest to find a set of fibre-optic sights for my Springfield Armory P9 (Tanfoglio made CZ75), I have a question:

My gunsmith told me to find a front sight that is .360 wide, so that he can fit it into the existing front-sight dovetail. I haven't found any that are that size, so I was wondering what the 'exact' size is for the dovetail. Is there a standard that is widely recognized? I can't picture anyone manufacturing their own dovetail cutting bit if there are recognized standards out there...
Can anyone help with this one?

Unfortunately, this pistol was modified at some point (professionaly, I think) to cut a dovetail for the front sight, which was originally part of the slide...
 
Just a quick note ,a gunsmith should be able to gear you up with a sight.if he has to fit it not much more work to make one.
 
Brownell's has slightly oversized front sights made for dovetail slots that can easily be fitted to whatever dovetail slot you have. Their unfinished 'Rescue' front sight should do nicely. Only $20US too.
SPECS: Steel, blue, matte finish. Dovetail - .375” (9.5mm) wide, .085” (2.1mm) thick x 65°. Blade - .125” (3.1mm) wide, .275” (6.9mm) high x .625” (15.8mm) long. Includes 1⁄16" (1.5mm) diameter stainless steel roll pin.
