Just like the title says I'm trying to find a steel castle nut. I have a couple VZ rifles and every time I need to take out my armorer's wrench to take off that nut the weak aluminum always seems to buckle under the pressure. So I'm trying to find something that is going to be able to put up with a little abuse and not look bad when I'm done with it. Any recommendations?

K so I actually just assumed that it was aluminum when in fact its steal, but it wrecks so easily in those grooves. Im new to AR tubes and the castle nut so is there any brand out there that I can avoid having this happen to?

Buy a better wrench, one that does not just bite into one notch but one that has more teeth built in to grab more notches on the castle nut. Much like the Magpul Armorer's Wrench etc.

Not that it's necessary but I can confirm that the castle nut on the Vz.58 is steel. After speaking to someone at CSA, they acknowledged that the steel on the nut is a bit soft and were considering replacing it with a stronger steel.

It's not the wrench, by the way. I ordered a new castle nut off a third party on eBay and used the same POS cheapo wrench to tighten it without scoring or deforming the new nut in any way. It's just a soft steel castle nut.
