is there an IDPA safety course?

There is an actual safety course.

The email for the person that can answer that question is dburke@ northcom.net Remove the space in the address.

I think he has a course coming up soon.
Good luck.

Hi

Yep Dave's the guy to contact. There always a course somewhere being put on, in Ontario but I only know of the ones east of Kingston. Eg: Pembroke this weekend(april 8th) Smiths falls in June, Cornwall in September.

This weekend! I wish I had known that. I would have been there for that.

I sent him an email to be informed but that one must have been full. :(

I will be waiting with all excitement for the next one. :D

Hi

A black badge is good enough, as long as you know the rules of IDPA. That's where the problem starts. It would seem that few people actualy go to www.idpa.com and read the rules. And I have seen long time IPSC shooters make big boo boos when they shoot IDPA for the first time and reflexes take over.

As for the Pembroke IDPA course, Dave likes a class of 12, he got 20. So he called in for some reinforcements....me:D

Thanks. I will then print the rules book then and show up at a match. i am sure the shooters will be kind enough to coach me.
I shoot production IPSC, so there shouldnt be a significant equipment gap.

It's not just an equipment thing...but more a different type of shooting (tactical reloads, proper use of cover etc)

the only equipment restriction is no speed holsters, I think...

When I spoke with him he mentioned that we needed 10 for a course.

I think we have nearly that number already at the Kingston club so maybe that may be a posibility. ;)

Hi

No over belts, no cleated shoes, and there are certain things you can't have or do on your pistol. Read the rule book.

As far as a course goes, if you already have ten people lined up, great. Let Dave know or PM me and as long as Kingston's Board of directors says okay, we will be there to give the course. I have family in "Gan" so it's easy to crash there for me.:D Oh and join the CSSA, make's sign up easy!!!

See ya!
