Is there another name for 32 rimfire ?

Is there another name for 32 rimfire ? Long or short ?
32 S&W ? 32 Rem ?

Ah, the old .32's....:yingyang:

The .320 "revolver/British/centrefire" (which I adore ! :D ) is apparently .62-inch case length (IIRC), .95inch OAL, and uses a bullet that - oddly enough - is .317 in diameter (so don't let the CFC ever claim that it's a "no-go" .32 - it is indeed its own calibre, and I've gotten an antique-status letter on the basis of that).

The .32 "short Colt" is a centrefire one that is apparently .61-inch in case length and otherwise quite similar to the .320 "revolver", except the bullet is .313 (.312 ? ) in diameter. IIRC, this cartridge was derived directly from the .320 revolver.

The .32 S&W (short) is a centrefire cartridge that headspaces on the rim, and the case length is apparently .61-inch and OAL is .92-inch. The bullet is of .312 in diameter (beginning to notice a trend here, eh ? :) )

The .32 "long Colt" is a centrefire cartridge with apparently a .92-inch case length, a 1.26-inch OAL, and a .313-diameter.

The .32 S&W (long) is centrefire with apparently a .92-inch case length, a 1.28-inch OAL, and a .312-diameter bullet.

Now, the "general rule" is that the external dimensions of the rimfires should match those of the centrefires....but I've never tested that, personally.

The shorts apparently fire an 80-grain bullet while the longs apparently fire a 90-grain one....I dunno, never measured it myself.

For what it's worth ?
