8 & 3/8 with the muzzle brake is the only way to go.
Try the 550 grain hornady or the 700 grain reload bullets. If you can shoot more than 5 rounds and still make a fist then you should considered a Super Freak!

Shot one run and my right hand hasn't forgiven since! Glad I shot it once, no need to experience that again I don't think.
Great gun though, just not sure what for. If you can rapid fire a 12 gauge pump gun using a pistol grip one handed you will love the 500.

until I shot my buddy's. Five shots off of a rest at 25 yds using a 440gr GC bullet @ 1000 f/sec, one ragged 1 1/4" hole. Suddenly, I 'needed' one! Since then, virtually any reload ammo I've put through it has shot well.
