Is there any animal you wouldn't hunt ?

I too might take some flak on that, but I don't believe (and thus won't) you should hunt what you don't eat...

And yes that goes for predator control...

but then again that's just me and my conscience, I won't stop anyone from doing so (though I do disapprove it)

Edit - I am ok with invasive species control. Ala the bunny infestation we have here, or if it ever got to the degree it is down south with wild pigs. You can only freeze so much tasty wild pig before you don't know where else to put it or what else to do with it.

I personally don't think we understand predator control well enough in a lot of cases, like wolves and cougars to really know when they're over predating and when they're simply going through the boom and bust cycle that's accepted as the current model.

Coyotes, depends. They eat a lot of cats in our area, but also a load of rats. I draw the line when they don't run from people any more.

I really have no fasination what so ever with pronghorn hunting. i don't know why, i just have no desire to. Maybe if i tried it i'd like it though. Everything else i'll kill.

Now I thought those were nearly extinct....:)

Don't turn this thread into an ethics and morals pissing contest.

Remember guys this is the hunting forum of CGN, just because you don't or wont do it does not mean it is wrong.

I think I'm in the "if it's legal I'll hunt it category". At least once.

After hunting some animals, I might put something on my "Do Not Hunt List" but right now that page is blank.

I used to have a hard time with waterfowl, as they are monogamous. I got it over it, though. I don't shoot the divers - ducks that eat fish taste like fish that have been eaten by ducks.

Giraffe....I don't know why someone would hunt a giraffe unless you were a native and needed the meat, but as a north american to fly over and have the choices of dangerous game that are available and then choose a giraffe, I don't get it.
If I ever get the chance to hunt Africa it wont be on my list.

Not all divers eat fish. Bluebills, ringnecks, redheads and canvasback don't normally eat fish (while mallards are way more carnivorous) and are some of the better tasting birds out there, especially in the early season.

Mallards for one are polygamous BTW as are many other duck species.

It's just like shooting a big deer IMO.:D

Besides, many guides in third world countries don't exactly earn a fortune. The meat or the income/trade from the sale of meat can significantly supplement their wages. A 2000+lb giraffe has a lot of meat.

Several of the Dangerous Game animals on the other hand have little useful meat, and therefore are hunted primarily for sport. Besides, and giraffe hide blanket would be a lot nicer than an Elephant or Rhinoceros. ;)

Any apes, warhogs, hyena's and those little tiny african deer/antelope things, reptiles, hippo's.

I'd hunt pretty much anything in North America. Don't know about pulling the trigger on a grizzly, but it would be fun to have the opportunity.

When I said divers I meant fish-eaters.
