Is there any downside to pinned mags?

I'm considering a Glock 34 imported from the US. They have pinned mags, is there any reason they would be less reliable?
Thanks,
Ken

Makes cleaning them a bit harder because the follower/spring doesn't go past the rivet making it non-removeable. But, on the other hand they are easier to load in 10 rds.

If you don't want to bother with buying from the US, here's a Canadian store with Glock 23 mags in stock: http://northernrepublicmagazine.com/products/glock-23-magazine-10-rounds
Actually, I was thinking about purchasing the gun from the US (I run guns . ca), and they have the pinned mags. I would get a CA model if one was available.
I'm still deciding on a G34, or a MP9 Pro though. My RPAL was just issued and I'm waiting for it in the mail, then I can go handle some guns at a shop to decide.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. So it appears that cleaning might be the only negative from all the answers. Never owning a handgun before, what will get in the mag from range use and IDPA? Would compressed air not be sufficient to clean them, or do they get oiled up and gunky inside?

yes, there is a downside, a pretty big one...

if the pin falls out, all the kittens everywhere will die

...on the other hand, loading your pinned mags will be hell of a lot easier :)

pinned is easier to load but with uplula no diff either way. Harder to clean.

BUT most importantly in SHTF Zombie invasion a drill bit returns them back to their full glory.

Yes. If the pin falls out, black helicopters will fly over, dropping a team of 20 heavily armed operatives to pull you out of bed and bring you to Guantanamo bay. /endtinfoil
