Is there any reason I should get a Benelli Super Nova?

I want to upgrade my Mossberg 500 trap gun and am considering a Benelli Super Nova. Its being sold for at $680 out the door. I'm told that price is a steal, is that correct? Now, is there any reason not to get the Benelli at that price? Are there any maintenance issues the Supernovas have that I should consider?

I'm someone who doesn't shoot much which is the only thing making me hesitant right now.
 
I just picked one up for around that price, I haven't been able to take it out and shoot it yet but I do like the feel so far. And I was upgrading my lakefield mossberg 400g because I needed something with a variety of chokes.
 
Its a great gun and IMHO the comfortech works. Your Mossberg is a fine gun as well. In the end though you can never have to many shotguns.
 
They are a really nice shotgun for the money, thats a great price, and you can't go wrong with one. I use one and it fits me like a glove, its real easy to point and shoot.
 
You can get the regular Nova for $500 most places.

The only advantage that the Super-Nova has is that you can change the stock to an aftermarket pistol-grip if you want to.
The regular Nova is all one solid piece, so you can't change the stock.

If you're the type who likes the regular stock (and won't ever want to change it) then just get the regular Nova.
 
Also to add, the SN has an enlarged trigger guard for gloves, but it also makes the action release harder to push easily. Also, they stylized the polymer molding on the SN receiver, so it is definitely bulkier than on a regular Nova.

The Supernova has a comfotech stock which helps to reduce recoil, compared to the stock nova one. But yes, it can be swapped for a pistol grip stock. (Although I wouldn't recommend it)

I still use my 400g for trap. I've tried other shotguns but my score doesn't improve at all - I guess I just like the fit of my Mossberg. Shotguns are all about what feels and fits right for each shooter, so I would try to shoot as many different kinds as possible before buying.
 
I have approximately 3500 rounds though my SuperNova, I don't think I've cleaned it since about 500 rds and I love it. I haven't had a single failure of any kind. It tends to ride around in my truck all year (within the confines of the Canadian law obviously *Ahem) and it still looks like new.

Out of the half dozen 12 gauges I have I think might be my favourite. Reasonably light, low recoil, nice sight, reliable, super easy to strip. All I've added is a Nordic mag tube extension so that it holds 8+1.

If I had anything negative to say:

Due to it being able to handle 3.5" shells it has more action travel than I'm used to, but what else should I expect from a gun that takes 3.5" shells.
The fit and finish of the rubber inserts on the comfortech stock could be better, but again I'm being picky for a sub $1K shotgun.

I'm not a Benelli sales rep, but I feel like it is an excellent value.
