Is there any way to own a deactivated MP5?

It is my understanding that a dewat full auto can only be imported by an importer licenced for the importation of full autos, as if it were still functional. It would have to then be certified as deactivated according to current Canadian standards.

Thanks, I just contacted marstar. They do import mp5's so I'll have to see what John says.

Listen young man, pretty sure you are, mp5s were Prohib OIC in 1976 with other full autos the original German MP5s came out in 1968 there was/is not too many in Canada to begin with as at the time it was an expensive piece of kit, yes there was a few company's that brought them in from England where the deactivation a were more liberal ie:) #### and click, 1 sold on the board here last year for 6500 yes 6500 deactivated, it sold quick, it was first one I have seen here on the boards... No more nice deactivation like that have come in for 20 years, I doubt John at marstars will sell you an MP5 as he doesn't generally deal with individuals unless you have Prohib 12.2 full auto, I would guess he is too busy to have a single deactivation done for you (I hate to break it to you) and have it taken out of the registry for you, verified and sent to RCMP Lab, trust me they are gonna want to see it, new spec for any full auto is welded solid (ie, no moving parts, nada none ! Maybe the stock that's it, no charging handle, no trigger, no magazine, doesn't strip , tube would be back filled with solid weld and all pins would be welded and fused together) he did have a stock of mp5 and mp5 ks but he is currently sold out, they were 2-3000 and then I'd say add about 5-600 for deactivation, so 3600 for solid if you want one on the wall or on a mannequin or something, but previous poster is wright and wrong, you may import new deactivation into canada but it will be treated as a live Prohib firearm by cbsa and RCMP until it is verified, and it must be equivalent to new Canadian specs, I know someone that did. This and they waited 2 years to get dewat verified and released to then, iv seen solid mp5s in new spec in Europe for 1700 euros so yeah about 2200 Canadian, thing is they won't ship to canada, so you'd have to go over there and buy if, get documentation of what it is and send it to RCMP lab for approval and wait the 2 years, I do not recommend trying to send your money to overseas people you have not met before, go there locate one yourself and start the process, option 2 is find an hk94 in canada long barred semi auto mp5 also quite rare, but around, iv seen 2-3 in last few years go for about 3000, they are Prohib as well , as they are a variant they were banned in about 1992, so get one send to gunsmith have deactivated, your looking at 3500 for that option... Good luck, start saving, don't give up on what you really want, don't get scammed please ! Ie, you see a brand new user with zero feedback in EE offering an Mp5 dewat tomorrow 2000 if its to good to be true it is, keep your eyes peeled and keep looking ! Cheers

VFC. Gas blowback 6 mm model will get you an excellent un-regulated firearm version.
Stamped steel receiver, full metal construction. Realistic strip For a hell of a lot less, if it's to be a paper weight anyway, what's the down side?

Well I can't understand. Why bother to do it

For the same money. Get a USC UMP clone
At least you can enjoy to shoot it

Holy #### that was hard to read...

I got about 2/3 through before losing interest.

My cousin told me there was an MP5 semi-auto available brand new in Canada available... but it was $8K? It's in a store and I'm sure you know who you are. I was also told that it comes in 45 ACP only.... Oh and the other juicy bit of information is that there are only 2 in Canada and is restricted.

Your cousin is incorrect.

He's quite likely mistaking a USC for a MP5. Some USC have body kits to make them look pretty badass. Or if he's right about the price he may be looking at one of the few genuine UMP semi-auto in country.

If it truly is a MP5 then he's wrong about the classification, it'd be a prohib.

Ahem

Cost: Upwards of $5K (right?)

Why get a dewat when you could buy a real gun? True its not the gun, but if it looks like a duck and shoots like a duck . . .

Picture's a little dark, but you see the similarities in design right? I'll take restricted over prohib every time. :D
