I've been hunting hard each time I got some time off from work during the whole month of Novemeber, not as much as I wanted because I couln't take much time off (The joy of military life). I have permission on two properties and also hunt a bunch of community pastures around Wainwright and Edgerton. To be honest, I can count on my 10 fingers the number of WT deer I've seen while hunting (about 7 does and 2 spikes).

I could have filled my mulie tag 20 times over if had one but I don't, saw some very nice mulie bucks including 2 today and countless does as well. I see the odd WT when I'm at work on base but there's far more Mulies in general.

Is this normal for the area? Is there more specific areas around Wainwright with a higher ratio of WT than MD?

Thanks

I have hunted deer in the base many times. And over the years the population of both deer have gone up and down a few times.

Talking to the bio. who runs the hunts there, a few years back we had a sever winter with deep snow and cold. It effected the white-tails much worse than the mule deer (60% reduction I believe) I was under the impression that the white-tails were making a pretty good come back.

I know some guys who are hunting on the base right now and they keep pretty good records on what they see. In a week or so I will hear about their experience.
