Is there hope for handgun lovers in future?

There are more handguns in Canada today then when Justin declared a freeze on sales.
He freezes assets of hard working honest Canadians and then does next to nothing to deal with the real threat of increasing criminal violence.

Not worth the cost for sure, good news is that Iliberal Progressive failure has opened the door to a complete overhaul.

Average middle folk Canadians are slowly waking up to the insanity of modern day progressive thinking due largely to things like Trans Uber Alles and Drag Queen Story Time's..... throw in a few Dudes who want to dominate Women's sports and then sprinkle in a rise in the cost of everything and suddenly you see people questioning big narratives for the first time in their lives..... When people start to see things differently it's hard to go back to the old way of seeing.

Liberal Fear tactics around Guns,Abortion,Climate,Fiscal Cuts to Programs might not be as affective as they have been in the past.

People see the rising gun violence in the City, despite the Liberals Bans and Freezes,People in general do not fear Abortion being banned in Canada, People are now more upset about the idea of a Carbon Tax to stop climte change, due to Inflation and Interest rates, People See bloated Govt waste and Understand that more spending means more inflation..... People are open to the idea of reducing the cost of Govt Waste and looking for technological replacement of bloated bureaucracy.

The Shift from left to right is happening all around the world in so called first world countries that have largely been under the influence of progressives since the 60's.

People are ready to listen to some different ideas on how to deal with the challenges we face and are less interested in manufactured issues that seem irrelevant to most people.

The Firearms Community should start working on an extremely simplified replacement legislation for the entire fire arms acts..... no more amendments, complete re-write in simple plain language that is easy to understand and easy to enforce.

Almost everyone in Canada knows personally of an area where our govts are acting in a non sensible and wasteful fashion. People need to realize that our gun legislation is also wasteful and ineffective and we don't have resources to waste anymore.

I sincerely hope so, and don't think it's something PP can be promising now...or that it's even smart to talk about it now. We know that Trudeau is a spineless idealogue who doesn't actually accomplish anything, his strength is in convincing complacent/comfortable Canadians in the mushy middle that we're the bad guys. And he's gotten pretty good at it unfortunately.

PP should hold his cards close right now, but we should all be prepared to ring the bell loudly when he wins. With the mess Trudeau has made in Canada, I don't think it's realistic to assume it'll be PP's top priority (or even in the top 5) but we're all looking for positive change, and asap.

It's important that the Conservatives open the door to fixing everything that is broken. And they have already talked about fixing the mess the ideologues have made with gun control. That alone gives them the ability to act like Trudeau and claim an election mandate was given to re-write the act.

The Liberals are getting desperate and will attempt to deflect from failure by attacking on the usual suspects but the dire financial reality for most people have them focused on one thing.... attacking and taxing the rich is one of the only things that might still fool a few people for a while, but I don't seem much appetite for a fear campaign on legal guns going into the next election, given the failure to address illegal guns.

One thing people seem to not understand is that Rich people don't only have a lot of money by definition.... they also have financial options that include leaving Canada and letting someone else pay the bills. The someone else will be the people with less options.

It is so heartbreaking to begin to accept the reality that many people might not have the chance to own their desired handgun till they will pass. I used to have a very long list of handguns on my bucket list that I was hoping to buy, but now the hope seems less. In my own opinion, I think the ban is just too harsh on gun enthusiasts. I'm sorry for bringing my personal frustrations to your views, I believed I am not alone this matter. I know this is a place where I can connect with like-minded people and share my opinion. The question I kept on asking myself is this, is there a possibility the ban could be lifted in the near future, and if so, what factors do you believe might influence such a decision?

My opinion is the ban will continue for a very long time, except for enforcement agents of the government of course.
Pierre Pepper will not reverse anything, gun rights wise.

That leaves only two options.

1. Leave this country for the USA
2. Buy all you want on the black market, unregulated by government, albeit at a stiff price.

Personally I wish we only had 2 parties, then this alliance wouldn't be allowed to happen. Where it is 4 against 1. Were a minority could be ran like a majority.

Why stop at two Comrade? If there is only one party, there would be full socialist agreement on everything. All dissent would be crushed, Tavarish...

Well it seems like everybody is against the consertives. So we are already there. Just wouldn't have people voting for stupid parties that have zero chances of winning.

There is no hand gun BAN. The only thing that changed was not allowing transfers to an individual except those with separate qualifications.

There are several places where that could be opened up or changed without a lot of fanfare.

Currently the only avenue to acquire a handgun is to take up ISSF pistol shooting (in the Olympic and Paralympic disciplines). This is certainly feasible if you live near a club with an active division doing this kind of shooting, like the WIPL (Western International Pistol League) here in Vancouver. It's not especially difficult -- to score, you need to be able to hit an 18" one ring at 20 yards, one handed, with a decent .22LR pistol (such as a Ruger semiauto). We can hope that when the Conservatives get in, they will at least extend this to IPSC and the other established centrefire disciplines.

Do you like knives also? I would stock up before Canada becomes UK.

A simplified replacement is here!
It's already in the Conservative party's Policy Declaration.
And Poilievre has promised at least 3 times publicly, to SIMPLIFY CLASSIFICATION.

To watch the 3 videos and read the CPC policy declaration, see this thread:

Agreed! It should be like the US two parties. Even if the Conservatives get the popular vote you still have these rinky-dink parties splitting the vote. For instance in my riding it’s a strong NDP presence. The Conservatives got about 80% more votes than the Liberals but it meant nothing because we lost the seat to the NDP which is basically another seat for the Liberals.

Hope ? Exactly between none and zero.

He's opened the door and that's all that's really needed publicly at this point, bigger fish to fry and more important issues effecting way more people.

Once in office they will be able to take a better look and declare that the entire legislation is such a twisted mess of convoluted bad ideas that the only sensible thing to do is throw it out and start over.
