Is there something wrong with downloading a cartridge?

Mild loading is practiced by lots of handloaders. Using the truck analogy above it is more like driving the hemi on cruise with all the power available when needed. Years ago I often had big game and deer loads for my 444 and 375 H&H. I sold the 375 because it was just not used much because I really liked the 444. I carried it for decades. The problem was my moose load was too destructive for deer. Obviously I was not a long range hunter so everything got hit close.

I started casting so I could shoot more and have some security of supply for bullets. I consider light cast loads as good practice for any hunting rifle. The constant use of a gun is what makes it a natural part of the shooter not the recoil. I then switched to heavy hitters as the season approached to settle in with the recoil.
