I just traded for a Tikka T3 and it has a one piece base, under the base it's stamped EGW T3 20M. When I put weaver rings on it and snug up the screw, just a bit, the ring can move back and forth an eight of a inch, when I try the rings on weaver base it barely moves. Would this base take speical rings?
is there something wrong with my scope base?

I think the problem is that you are trying to use Weaver which is 1 spec ina Picatinny rail which is another totally different spec.
Try a set of Picatinny spec rings and I think your problem will be solved.
