As an inexpensive NON RESTRICTED and accurate semi .223? I'd love a mini 14 but when I read about its accuracy it makes me think of looking elsewhere. I don't really want to do a lot to the gun to make it accurate. I don't want 5" groups at 100. I could deal with a 2 MOA gun though.

Anyone?

Maybe ask Remington to barrel you a Synthetic 750 in .223Remington in their custom shop. I believe they offered it in custom rifles in the 90s. Probaly not cheap. likewise a nice H&K 630. I attended a course put on by an accomplished Coyote hunter in the 1980s and he swore by the 630 for predator hunting. He said he couldnt outshoot the rifle for accuracy and he could kill multiple coyotes at one time because the second and third guy is not sure where that loud bang came from and would freeze. When he used bolt guns, and he cycled once, they were gone. The same thing applies to deer at times as well. I havent checked but i imagine those 630s are not cheap now used . I don't think theres much non restricted in .223 semi anymore is there.

The Kel Tec SU-16 should be carried by dealers soon it will be under $1000 i have read good accuracy reports from down south and it takes AR mags so you could use the 10 rounder LAR mags.. also you could check out the new Czech Small Arms 223 rifle from Wolverine its $999 but im not really sure how accurate it is. Both are non restricted , you should edit your post and add that you want a non restricted rifle or alot of people will post get a AR-15/Norinco M-4 as this would be the best inexpensive restricted option..

Price range is between $550 to $700 USD depending on the model. With generaly a 2 MOA.

Where do I find out more about how to order one? I'll put a deposit down RIGHT now on a Keltec SU16. I'm talking RIGHT NOW. That's awesome. I have a feeling there is a thread with lots of info on the status of the import, I'm going looking for it now.

not in canada yet. maybe in a few months. they dont look like what you see in the pictures posted above. that is a su16 with aftermarket mods put on it. check out the kel-tec website for more information. the neat thing about this rifle is if you dont mod it, it folds in half for easy storage and transport. also they are very light in weight as well.

Yeah I know that one's modded. I was lookin on google. I actually like the rifle stock more than the pistol grip. It looks so mean. OMG You just showed me my next gun. I'm waiting.

Again, I'll put a deposit on one right now... Who is taking preorders?

[edit]:
sorry guys, I'm kinda freakin out. I need that Keltec. So ###y. Anyone know who I can contact about putting my name on a list?

It would appear that looks are more important than a 2" group since we don't really know how well this new gun works and you want one immediately if not sooner. If you can get 2" groups with this new gun, you can get 2" groups with the new series mini 14. I do all the time with the right ammo.

HAHA. Call me shallow.

The wife better hope a better lookin version of her doesn't come along. Note the new sig! haha

But...
Does your mini have the harmonic dampener or is it just that the new series mini14's are more accurate by default?

[edit]
I'm calming down now...

Is the .223 Saiga in Canada?

The mini 14 is a good choice for what your describing. I own one that shoots as well as my ar's. Don't believe everything you read on the internet, according to the net Elvis is alive, aliens probe lonely men on back roads, crystals can heal everything, and Michael Jackson didn't touch kids. We all know these are just stories.

What kind of groups can you make at 100 yards? 200? I don't plan on shooting at 200 often, but I like the feeling of doing it every now and then...
