I'm looking for some opinions on this stamp, it resembles a "C Broad arrow" but the proportions are all wrong, even if it is a "C" it ain't the usual Canadian "C" . Also I've never seen the Canadian stamp in that location. I'm thinking it wasn't a Canadian issued rifle but deep down I'm hoping it to be some old "original" Canadian arsenal stamp!

There's no other markings anywhere on the rifle that aren't standard British proofs ect. The receiver and barrel are both 1916, all matching.

ive seen the identical stamp used on the left side of the receiver, forward of the little gas vent hole. its my understanding that the canadian government bought british rifles in the interwar years and marked them like this

My wife has the same marking on one of her 1918 No.1 MkIII* Enfields ...

I've looked at almost every C Broad arrow I have and they do vary in style and proportions, in some the arrow takes up the entire inside area of the "C", others less so.
