Just checkin, because i don't feel the first break in my 2 stage trigger on my armalite M15. Can anyon confirm that the trigger group shown is the 2 stage tactical factory armalite trigger group ?

And if it is... how do i adjust it ?

Yes that's an Armalite 2 stage setup, looks like its at the lower spring rate. The light Grey spring in your picture can be set below the two notches by removing the trigger group and changing where its sitting as you reassemble the trigger group.

p.s. Austin Powers called, he wants his towel back.

I have one and I believe you have it at the heaviest setting. Mine is on the lowest set of notches and I can definitely feel two stages but the second stage is fairly light. It came on the middle setting, which still had a noticeable two stages but was also noticeably heavier.
Never tried it on the setting you have it on so I have no idea.

The setting my rifle is on, you can't feel the first stage. Thanks ViktorF, for the manuals.

I guess i'l be able to figure this all out when i learn how to adjust that spring and see the differences for where it is set.

So many noob questions, so little time. cp:

Yes that is a pillow not a towel and it's pimp.

Great set of posts. Interesting question, knowledgeable, non attitudinal answers, and appreciation by the OP is CGN at its best :D

So did you change the setting?

Na dude i haven't even looked up how to do it yet. I'm not sure if it's an easy job or not to change that spring to the bottom or middle setting. Pretty sure you got to take the trigger group apart.

Thoughts ? Anyone changed this spring setting on thier 2 stage trigger ? Themselves ?

Leave it, its at the lightest setting as long as the previous owner hasnt bent the springs up too much (read the second pdf link) for match primers... can I speculate thats the lower that was on the EE with the tan grips? you got a good deal if it is; that trigger group has gone way up in value according to wolverines online price list. go shoot, enjoy!

So that is the lightest setting? Weird cuz I could have sworn that the middle setting felt heavier than the setting I've got mine on now (opposite end than the OP). *shrugs* maybe I was drunk when I installed it ;)

If you do decide to switch it, it's not hard. You pop the hammer and trigger pins, paying close attention to how the springs are positioned, you just remove the disconnector spring and put it in whichever position you want. Then put everything back in and function check. I haven't looked at the links that ViktoF posted but I'm guessing they're the Armalite instructions, either way, its pretty easy.

+1

Dont be worried about taking you trigger out. Not that hard of a thing to do, youtube is a great tool that can help you through it too.

The rifle by the way, is a complete Armalite, new and un-fired...except for me.

Ok.... pretty much figured out what is going on...... Yes it is a 2 stage trigger... but it's not the 2 stage tactical trigger..... it's the national match 2 stage trigger group, which is why i'm getting spring pressure up until the shot fires... and not a small break at 3.5 lbs, and then the shot like the two stage tactical.

I will not be adjusting it... Just wanted to get to the bottom of this because i was told it had a factory 2 stage trigger... but he didn't mention national match :D

Make sense to any of you Armalite owners ?

well theres yer problem! ;)
I have the 2ST not the 2SNM, although AFAIK they have the same method of adjustment. Looks like I'm going to go home and play with the setting tonight on mine to verify what ViktorF said about what position is the heaviest vs lightest......with less beer this time lol.

Looking at the photo, lowering the spring tab to the next notch applies more tension, in turn I think a heavier trigger pull.

Lol, and that's what I would think by looking at it too but I could've sworn it got lighter when I switched. *shrugs* like I said, I'll check it again tonight and report back, it's entirely possible I'm mistaken, supposedly it's happened once or twice before ;)

So, it turns out I was drunk and ViktorF was correct in that the OP does in fact have it set on the lightest setting. :)

I have that trigger dude, if you do take it out, take care not to lose the very tiny "c" clip holding the hammer pin in place, there is NO "J" hook on that hammer, you lose or damage the clip the axis pin starts a walkin' ...
