Hey all,
Received my JR Carbine... Initial impressions: 'So-so.'
Haven't shot it yet.
Out of the box, I swapped the standard grip with an MOE. I noticed that the 'detent spring hole' is off and not perfectly aligned with the hole in the grip. In my excitement I forgot to compare its alignment to the hole in the original AR grip.
When I go home today I'll check to confirm if it is the grip or the trigger housing.
Anyway, the spring thing is a problem because the spring gets pinched; the safety thus is only under half of the spring pressure which makes for a weak feeling safety engage/disengage.
Does anyone else here have a weak feeling safety?
I have an idea for a fix (slightly englarge the hole on the grip to remove the pinch), but if it turns out to the the trigger housing I'll be very dissapointed.
I also noticed that the grip went on effortlessly which has me now questioning tolerances (almost falls into place).
Anyway, I'll update when I get home.
The blued barrel also kinda sucks, was hoping for parkerizing. The bore looked rather dirty.[/U]
Looks like lots of brass went through it as well (testing at the factory?) The bolt face was brass coloured with visible head stamp markings.
Is this normal?
If it's normal I can handle it and have no problems... but if I got a refurb I'd be pissed as I paid the 'new' price.
Comments on your unboxing experiences appreciated.
~Cheers
