Ha... funny, I have a "D" with the exact same stock & similar scope (plus a muzzle brake on mine). And no, the one in the above pic is most definitely not a D-model.

The SKS "D" is a fairly limited edition of SKS's made by Norinco. I bought mine in the mid-nineties and paid something like $149 for it brand new. The D models were more expensive (even back then, as regular SKS's cost $89), because they are able to accept unmodified 30 or 75 round AK-47 mags/drums.

The one in the pic is using one of those cheesy SKS long clips made to look like an AK mag... but it's definitely not an AK mag. You can tell because of the thin & long lip sticking out in the front of the mag, where it connects to the rifle. See examples below...

lol... A couple of years ago I went looking for an SKS-D at a gun show. I found it, offered 300, he accepted. I shot it a few times, but I never really liked it much. I couldn't get it to shoot consistently, so I sold it about 2 months later: for 500$ IIRC. Best gun investment ever. It gained 40% in value in 2 months.
