Is this a trap gun?

This is a good gun to use I know a person who shoots one and he gets 25 stright in trap all the time.

I don't think that it is the gun, it's the guy behind it.

I've shot 25's with a cheapo mossberg semi, and a beretta S682X Trap. My buddy shot 49/50 with a cheap remington pump to win the 16 yard competition at our club this summer.

just my 2 cents.......

I think you are right! You can break targets with just about anything that will bloop out shot. If you do well and get the bug and shoot more and more and then you get really serious and shoot even more? Well,,,,,,,you may want a gun that will go the distance and not let down the man behind the gun.

In a 400 plus bird target tourney "a cheap remington pump" would not be my first choice. But hey 3 cheers for your buddy.

Hi...this is the trap model 391...l have the parallel target on which the stock has the more definate monte carlo look...the trap model didn't have as high of a comb, the reason l went with the 'parallel target'. It also has the target rib. Hope that helps, cheers!

When I ordered my second parallel target I was given the choice of 30 or 32 inch barrels. I chose 30 inch. Both mine are 30 inch, but the 32 inch choice is listed on page 123 of the 2008 2009 Annual Catalog.

Right you are ... and my mistake. I stand corrected !

The Beretta International site still lists a
391 PT SL with the 32" option ... the RL's came only with 28" or 30" !
I've seen a few of the Trap guns with the 32" bbls, just haven't run into
a PT so equipped.

I had a 32" barrel on the Tekny's I had. In an sbt or U/O it is fine. But in an Auto it is too long. Auto's are a little awkward on the line as it is, a 32" is way to long. If you want a real Semi Auto for Trap shooting find a nice lightly used Win. SX-1. They make the Beretta's look absolutely cheap. :)

There is nothing cheap about a 391, but if I were to limit myself to just trap shooting and there were lots of lightly use SX-1 guns out there I might go that way. If one wants to shoot trap, skeet or sporting clays there are 391s that will do that. If one wants wants to shoot all three there is a 391 that will do a good job at that. The 391 PT.

What's all the clanging about the SX-1. Have you fallen out of love with your P gun? Is it sick and waiting for a transplant of some kind?

I have owned 3 Beretta 391's and four 301's-302's 303's etc. The Beretta's are nice especially the 303's. But they are not in the same league as the SX-1. Now if I could find a 30" IM Trap Barrel all would be well between Heaven and Earth.:). Please PM me if you have one.
P.S. I still have the "P" gun it is waiting for an Anton Stock coming from the States. I like the SX-1 because there is no recoil (unlike the Beretta's) The SX-1 cycles like an O/U. Absolutely silent.

I have owned just about as many berettas as you and as well, a couple of SX-1 trap guns. I have no problem with the recoil of either. I really like the SX-1 and if I could find a lightly used one and the price was right, I would probably take it home, but the SX-1 is really behind the times. It is simply not as versatile as the 391 in ease of choke change and ammo available. The 391 will handle target loads as light as 7/8 oz (both mine work with ¾ oz.) and as heavy as 3 inch magnum. I am just about deaf from shooting and your silent action argument is a mute point.;)

Mine will shoot 1oz loads all Day long. I don't use 3" shells for Trap ;). As far as a "silent action" being a "mute point". If that is being "behind the times" that's where I will stay. Just find me that 30" IM Trap Barrel, and I will be nice to you again.:)

i have a beretta 391 trap, and had previous ones, don't think it is with the lower stock configuration, like to buy one
