Hey, picked this up and am wondering if I paid too much.... Could you guys tell me what it is and worth please? From the serial # I know it's from 1977 :d

Dam! Forgot it was a pain to post pictures! It might take a day or two to get some up!.... Sorry!

yes it is a model 70A, people here would list it on the EE for $700 because everything is overpriced but I'd say $500-$550. what chambering is it in?

Think this will work!

It's in 308. I've ran a few rounds through it. Functions well and seems accurate. I didn't have true targets, it shoots where you want it too though.

Years ago I had one in .270, and that definitely looks like a 70A to me. Mint condition, you should be able to pick it up for about $600.oo.

She has a few marks in the stock, some of the Finnish on the wood is worn off. A couple people have had a hard time putting the bolt back in when the butt end wasn't in the proper position... Lol including my self :/

I don't mind, $700... A little more then what you guys say, not as bad as what some books say.... But they were not recent books lol win some loose some

I've been wanting a feather weight from the mid 70's, so I jumped on this one, even though I knew it wasn't one because there was no black tip

well the 70A isn't quite a featherweight because it doesn't have the featherweight contour barrel. I have one in 300 win mag, they designed it to be a bit of a "lightweight" gun with the blind mag and my 300 WM has a shorter 24" barrel, but mine weighs 8lbs 12 oz scopes, that's with a bedded stock. not exactly lightweight but my gun shoots well. Last time out at the range the load I was testing shot a .44" group

Yes this one here is fairly heavy lol From what I've read, it was just light weight compared to the 70A and for its time. I'm guessing this one has a heavy barrel, it measures at 22". I'm not exactly sure where my fish scale is or I'd weight it too.

Less than half an inch is good! At what distance? What year was she made?

If I recall correctly my gun is made about 1988. I doubt yours has a heavy barrel, but the sporter barrels of that time were just thicker. My groups are always shot at 100 yds as that is the length of my range. I could never promise that it would group like that all the time as I always have a chance to screw it up :)

Nice, so it's a push feed also, CRF came back in '91 if I recall correctly... Ok, a sporter barrel, I'm thinking you are right. There is not a whole lot if specific info on the net for these, I could only find 2 sites that had a fair bit of info. i thought you were speaking of 100 yards, maybe more! Lol I gotta get to the local range, it's been too long!

Nice 70A, you paid enough for it maybe. The black fore end you refer to would be the 70XTR, floor plate and high gloss blue and wood. The 70A was the work horse and a Model 70 none the less, The Rifleman's Rifle remember. I don't remember when the 70FWT was reintroduced, maybe late 70's. Any M70 is a good rifle.

I'm surprised a push feed standard weight blind mag M70 is worth that much.
It's certainly not a Featherweight. Fwts have a completely different stock, barrel contour and a floorplate. The push feed Fwt was introduced about 1980.
