Is This Acceptable For A New STI Spartan

Hi all, this is my new STI Spartan and I noticed a big gap on the frame, even my Norinco is straight... it looks like someone was not to good with the finishing of the frame as the line goes straight and then takes quite a dip and then back to a straight line again. So you can see all the inside of the gun.
Am I being too picky or is this acceptable workmanship :( .

was this used? If you bought it from a dealer, contact them first. It is just my opinion, but I would contact the dealer or distributor and get it straightened out before I started posting pictures. I am sure if this slipped thru QC, than it obviously was not intentional. STI and quality are synonymous.

I'm not that picky, if it goes bang and hits what I'm looking at it wouldn't bother me, hell you can see through a Glock, or an M&P. Does that interfere with the rails at all? If it did I be asking questions, if not - well it wouldn't get prettier with me so......

facts? anything to back up that comment? I would like to know, as I have an STI Edge. 40, and it is the finest firearm I have owned. I have also owned ruger, HK's, CZ's, and tanfoglio handguns.

STI and quality are synonymous.
Except that the Spartan is an STI in name only. It's actually built by Armscor in the Philippines.

I have no idea whether this is normal but you have to remember that Armscor is a maker of discount pistols. The Spartan is essentially a $300 RIA (Armscor's U.S. brand) with a few upgraded internal parts. You can't expect the same level of quality as you would from a Trojan or any other "real" STI.

Seatax I'm Sean will pipe up here when he's back, this is not pretty.....and I'm it would back-up by both the person you purchase it from or from the distributor.

Mo some people don't know better......I have 7 STI's all quality pistols! and back by quality service, both in this country or abroad via phone call.

As listed on the STI web site.

The heart of the Spartan .45 (what you’re really buying) is the slide-to-frame to barrel fit, and in this area the Spartan delivers, There’s no movement in any of these areas with the gun in battery, either laterally or vertically. STI’s goal with the Spartan was to provide a custom level of slide/frame/barrel fit at a non-custom price. I have never before seen a fit like this on anything but an expensive custom gun, much less a piece in the Spartan’s price range.

This STI being a cheapie is irrelevant. Regardless of where the pistol is manufactured the quality should never be in question. STI is putting their name on it and it would be a detriment to all STI owners if any pistol they released was questionable or less than the quality that is associated with their name. I hope the situation is rectified for you, most importantly in a respectful manner, the last thing a consumer wants is to fight for recognition of their problem, it destroys loyalty.

My Spartan does not have that gap - where did you get yours?

Personally, I find the Spartans to be well made, but not fancy. I truly believe STI would not put their name on an Armscor built gun unless it met strict standards. That said, there is always the potential for QC missing something. Your best bet is to talk with the seller and see if something can be worked out.

In theory, that may be true. But in theory, Chinese-made toys shouldn't contain lead and date rape drugs either. In the real world, you get what you pay for.

If the Spartan was manufactured to the same standard of quality as the Trojan, there would be no reason for it to cost 50% less.
