Is this ammo safe for my BAR?

Hello,

I stopped today to pick up some ammo for my moose hunting trip in a few weeks. I was planning on getting the remington spiral tips like usually but the guy I was talking to recommended the Federal premium vital shoks. This are a 180 grain bullet with Nosler partition in .30-06. After bring them home I noticed a warning on the back of the package about using high energy ammo in semi auto's. Now that seems to me like a general warning and the box itself doesn't specify that this is high energy ammo, but I don't want to take any chances and have my BAR damaged. Can any one confirm if this is high energy or not?

P.S. This are double the cost of the regular remington shells.
 
"...double the cost..." That's due to the high priced Nosler bullet.
According to Federal's site, if the load number on the box is P3006R, it's high energy. An 'F' on the end of the same number, isn't. Mind you, the manufacturers put all kinds of warnings on their packaging. Gets them off the hook if somebody uses their ammo and can prove it caused any damage.
Their FAQ's say to follow the ammo maker's recommendations, though.
If you're concerned, you should take it back and get some 165 grain bulleted ammo. You don't need 180's for moose. You will, however, have to try either load in your rifle to see if it will shoot the load well.
 
High Energy

Hi Jon M, the high energy ammunition is recommended for late model bolt action or Ruger single shot firearms. I would take the ammo back and get what you wanted in the first place premium ammo in a standard load. Why take the chance on damaging your firearm , and 180 gr is an excellent choice for moose. Enjoy your hunt

I checked the package and the number is P3006RC. Looks like it's the high energy ammo. I'm gonna take it back to be on the same side.
