32 Colt was invented in 1896, ....
32 S&W in 1899
.
Scianna54's point is valid: this design is from 1850s, and the .320 is from 1870s.
However, I was looking for the RCMP/FRT record of a Lefaucheux 7.5 mm pinfire revolver I have, incorrectly registered as prohibited, and looking for "Lefaucheux" finds many .32 Colt/S&W prohibited revolvers. I presume someone kept building the gun after 1898 in more modern .32 calibers. The design isn't very strong at all, so they must have had parts or even revolvers left over, unsold, and they were changed to more popular .32 (or .320) center fire. It isn't hard from there to convert .320 to .32 ACP / .32 S&W, both prohibited.
