This was given to me by a good old friend when he had to move into a retirement home. He asked me to "take care of it for him". He simply referred to it as "the .25". Did the factory ever do any of this stock carving or is this a piece of folk art?

From a simpler time before facebook and youtube................sigh.

Saw a rifle with a cougar head carved into the side of the rear stock of a Remington pump or semi rifle.
The depth was such that it went through the stock into the hole that accesses the bolt/screw attaching the stock to the action.

This looks very much like the work done by Mac Schatz who used to live in Smithers BC. He passed on about 20 years ago and all his rifles were done in that fashion.

A Marlin 27S that's been tattoot'd.
I'll watch over it when you decide to move into a retirement home.
I'd be honoured to have that gal in me custody.

Do enjoy............
