Is this even relevant anymore

Well even I, hater of 20" barrels, have one...

- and hey wait a minute -wasn't that lower not going to be going to me?

I have two 20" uppers - one in the above pic, and another a copy of the USMC SAM-R (no you cant have it).

Tactically I dont think the 20" gives you anything REAL over a 16". Additionally in service rifle - I've seen 16" shooters take the 300m Deliberate at CFSAC/NSCC (me) and the 500 (not me) - and the agg (not me).

For a personal firearm (over an issue weapon) I think it all comes down to personal preference. I am a NTCH shooter - so the A2 stock sucks ass for me even w/o body armour on.

Really depends if you want one more Colt Ray - for when the Zombie's come you can lend it to guys at work ;)

Yours is in the safe matey...nice to see you kept one in the inventory, I suppose relevant or not I like it so I will shoot it. It does have the most atrocious trigger of any Colt I own though.

rgr ont he lower thx...

WRT the trigger -- just rip the old LPK out and replace it with a new Colt or LMT one... Like RobAk's 20lbs trigger on one of his Armalites you dont needlessly need to keep it like that (he got a Giessel or two IIRC)

I always have to keep a 20" kicking around -- I may have a hankering for doing drill one day ;)

For the 20" I think a NF 2.5-10, Leupy M2 2.5-8, or S&B 3-12 are nice choices - while I prefer a Mk11/M110 as a DMR - the A4 gun is not bad.

WRT the M14 comment
*I still have never seen a M14 in Iraq with my own eyes - I've seen Mk11's, Mk12's, and honest to goodness USNSW M4Recce rifle, SAM-R, M4, M4A1, Mk18, Hk416 - and not a M14. I've even seen a Marine with a tarted up FN Fal Para.

I ran a 20" AR15 A4'gery at a local tac match with ACOG optics and ARMS rail as pictured. Great overall rifle and one of my favorites ;)

Relevant? USMC seems to think so... ACOG and all :)

regardless, Im still planning to finish the 16" middy to keep the 14.5" and 11.5" uppers company.

Shazam -- true but all the recent desire from the Master Gunner side of the USMC driven out of Iraqi Freedom has been GET MORE M4's.
They kept the M16 even when the M4 did better in the testing, and the user group selected it, someones hidebound desire for a 500m KD Iron Sight course of fire...

At least they need to add a collapsible stock as it is impossible to shoot properly with the A2 (even A1) fixed stocks while wearing armour.
