I think you would have to use a very heavy .224 bullet to get it to have any accuracy as the stability would be really weird with a 30 cal twist rate and a .224 bullet.

Not really, the twist rate for a .30 cal is 1:10 or 1:12. the twist rate for 223 is 1:7, 1:8, 1:9, 1:12, and 1:14.

I too tried them many years ago, in the hope of turning my .30-30 into a varmint round. The ultra high speeds fascinated me. Found out it doesn't matter how fast you miss things.

Oops, I went backwards, ya, the short light bullet will be crazy stable.

I am sure that there is a point where the effectiveness of the sabot is lost when it comes to accuracy, I am curious if something like Trailboss in a case with a bullet like this would give a reasonable speed that would work with the sabot round.

I had some of these for my 30-30, they were 6in at 100 yards sort of thing with my gun, but I was not trying hard.

Minute of SKS ;)

I shot my SKS at 100 yards with 150gr ammo, would be no problem hitting the boiler room of a deer, even with the crappy battle sights.

If you can get a 30-30 to .224 to hit a 4in circle at 100 yards every time you then have a 100 yard coyote option with your 30-30 without using heavy deer bullets.

My son's "crappy battle sighted" factory /26\ SKS put 4 shots touching at 75 yards with a 21gr IMR4198 /150gr .311 Sierra
