Is this good enough?

Tell her you could buy one gun for $1,000 or three Norincos for $1,000.

That is if it is about the money.

You mentioned she trys to find the best deals when grocery shopping. Tell her you will do the same when gun shopping.

Just depends on your needs I guess.

I do understand your position when money is tight. I've been there too.

my wife told me that if I brought another gun in the house she would divorce me,that was at least 10 guns ago ( which included 2 STIs and a CZ SP01) bottom line is if they went through that much to get you they're not going to give up that easy, and the occasional $1500. ring will put that smile back on their face!(that's only 1 1/2 guns!)Really though just stick with it they will come around when they see how mush you enjoy it,my wife even comes to matches now to pick up my brass, and trying to get her interested iin shooting is a real bonus.

You need at least 2 man. one rimfire, and one centerfire. Make that at least 4...two rims, one revolver and another semi-auto, and 2 centerfires, same thing. I don't get it by the way...why limited in guns, and not in funds spent on these guns? I would ask her for a budget, and go from there. If 1G for pistols, heck, grab a Norc 1911 and a ruger Mark III. Your under a grand, and that's all that should really matter. BTW, I appreciate that yourself and your wife are saving up for a house, but I will tell you one thing that should not slip your mind. As far as we all know, until proven wrong, you only live ONCE. Don't be slaving away putting money into an account to save for a house that will likely become a long term money grabber. Ask me, I own...I know the pains of being a home owner. Nah man, you still gotta treat yourself from time to time. Not gonna tell you what to do, but there is a certain sound emminating from this screen as I type....sounds like a whip crack to me... ;)

If you work, then you can also have your fair share of your combined disposable income to spend as you please.

How about you regulate the number of pairs of shoes she can have, or the number of manicures and hair appointments she can pay for.

Don't be like this!

You didn't read my post, did you?

Wow, now don't I feel like a bit of a prick. I read everything except the last line.

In that case, buy a very nice gun, and then a second. You can say "Honey, the first is for the range, and the second is to protect us in our nice new house!" :D

Can I get a response to this, please? Instead of marriage counsels?
Well go to the range and handle them, test shoot them and determine whether it is ''worth'' the extra cost to you. By all means it comes down to personal taste, opinion and use. The price difference between your two groupings (SP01 and MA1) vs (USP and P22x) is not that great, so it comes down to what one prefers. The SP01 and MA1 have rather thinner grips than USPs and Sigs though, MA1 being thinnest I think and USP being thickest.

''So if you haf girly small hands ja, stay avay von zee German guns ok?''

And on the important note of marriage counselling, wait, lie, collect significant funds, open an off shore account to hide money away that you can transfer for blowing on toys. :)

I have been with women who love it when you shower them with jewels and gold but when its time to buy a new gun or big tires for the bush buggy then the tune changes. The lady I have been with for the past 15 years takes the time to drive me to my varmint hunting area and then picks me up when I'm done.:D I consider myself lucky and she never makes restrictions on what I buy, sell or trade.:) I manage to never have to dip into the "house money" and I don't have any addictions (except Enfields) to pay for so the money is usually there when I need it.

Yes, we have gone off on a bit of a tangent here... apologies.

Handgun FIT is oh so important... In my opinion, much more important than with a rifle. That said, hook up with some Gunnutz that live near you, who will no doubt be willing to let you test drive their pistols. If you are limited to owning one, then it had better be one that you like!! Personally, I have had a bit of a revolving door with firearms, buying ones that were "reputed to be" good, but didn't end up working for me, and resulted in a sale and new purchase (at a bit of a financial loss... not as bad as doing the same thing with new cars, but still...).

I love my Sig P220, and when and if it dies, I will go looking for an all stainless P220R to replace it... But, it has taken me about 15 years and four different pistols to reach that decision.

Shoot a bunch, before you make your purchase, would be the advice I would give.

Oh, and by the way, purely my personal opinion, but HK can go suck a lemon!

:)

Sounds to me like you have a good wife. She is trying to compromise to make room for your interests and still make a good life for all. Guns can cost allot and the expense of shooting does not stop. This is my suggestion. I would buy a semi-auto that can be converted to different calibers. I like the wide bodies like Para's, STI's and SVI's. These guns can be converted to different calibers very easily. There are all kinds of parts available. A used Para with multiple mags will fit within the $1000.00 limit and give you room to buy ammo.
I am not trying to find away around the agreement you have made with your wife , I am just trying to leave your options open for the future.

I'd miss her, I'd really miss her, for about as long as it took for the new registration for my 27th pistol to come in.

Suzanne and I have been happily married for 21+ years, she never even suggested "Restrictions" on what I bought or buy except money. Is this the way to have a partnership?

Buy the best damm gun you can afford. If your scopeing a rifle spend as much on the scope as you do on the rifle. Shoot lots, get good and have fun!!

I'm not much of a HK fan, over priced and just never really fit my hand, (don't ussually like the looks either). Now the sigs are nice firearms, and steel too! You aren't really going to go wrong with either. I still stand by what I said about a .22 pistol though, if you want to shoot much on a cheap budget (and get better at it to boot) buy a ruger, high standard or buckmark with adjustable sights and the heavier barrels, for around 250 used on a good day, and laugh all the way to the range with ammo, 20@ for 500 rnds:)
